Hot! Mercedes-Benz, What's Next?

After watching quite a few videos, I think the new GLC EQ looks really great, far more attractive and stylish in the videos than in pics. I really like the new grill design, it looks modern yet classic and actually gives the front a lot of presence. It works well with the overall design and bridges a nice connection to the past. From all angles, the design appears curvy and with fantastic short front and rear overhangs. I think it looks sportier and smaller than the iX3, when it actually is 7cm longer (4.85m vs 4.78m). I didn't think I would say this, but I love those new taillights. The full width with blackened surrounds and twin circular rings with star inserts is very unique and suits this car.

Personally, I think the major star highlight of this car is not the exterior but sitting inside the awesome interior. The interior design and details give it a sense of luxury and an expensive look that was missing in the current Mercedes models in the last 5 years. I love that there is NO shiny black piano plastic anywhere in the car, and even the rear air vents have classy metallic surrounds and that new Hyperscreen makes BMW iX3 puny windscreen strips look so cheap. The graphics and picture quality is outstanding and the use of the different mood wallpaper and sounds makes sitting inside the car an amazing experience.

C-Klasse Electric.
That grille is just too big 🥴.
I wish they offered it in a classic style.

I like the new big chrome grill, brings the best out of Mercedes design.

For me the biggest problem with the general Mercedes design is that they don’t change anything except graphics and some minor details. Heck, they’ve been using the same bumper design for more than 10 years now. Both front and rear.
While this new face on the GLC is an evolution of sorts, the iX3 is a revolutionary design for the BMW. That’s why the GLC lacks excitement, because if you cover the grille and the taillights, it could be any other Mercedes SUV, while the iX3 is undoubtedly a Neue Klasse.
From some angles it still looks like an egg, which should not be the case for the EQ models at this point.

We can clearly see how upright and more chiseled the iX3 looks compared to the GLC.

Still, design is subjective, but I would choose the iX3 over the GLC everyday.

Excellent conclusion.

I almost don’t dare to say that, but in comparison the iX3 feels really cheap.

I am really curious how much more expensive the GLC will be.

If it’s the same price like the iX3, it could become very tough for BMW.

Another thing, the iX3 is made in Hungary, the GLC made in Germany (Bremen).

Some technical details for the new GLC 400 EQ vs the new BMW iX3.

Both cars are impressive with the BMW having a larger battery (108.7kwh vs 94.5kwh) and longer range of 805km vs 713km, but the Mercedes is more powerful with 360kw vs 345kw and faster from 0-100km/h (4.3sec vs 4.9sec) with larger exterior and interior dimensions (570 vs 520l boot space) and (128lt vs 58lt frunk space).

There is going to be a fierce and interesting rivalry with these cars.

When BMW enlarged the kidneys, Mercedes fans made fun of it.

When Mercedes enlarged the grille, they said it was a brilliant solution.

When BMW illuminated the kidneys, they criticized and mocked them. When Mercedes did the same, it was a very good solution again. :D
Funniest thing is that illuminating the kidney grille was understandable, as it’s the most important design detail for the brand. But there’s just no point in illuminating the whole Mercedes grille, cause it has no specific purpose for the brand.
If they were to illuminate the logo I would be fine with it, but adding millions of LED’s, and basically creating a light show is so unnecessary.

In the week following the CONCEPT AMG GT XX's legendary finish in Nardò, the car achieved a maximum charging power of 1,041 kW during megawatt charging. It marks an all-time best that stands directly alongside the series of other records set by this vehicle. An incredibly high charging power was available immediately, with the megawatt mark reached just 0.5 seconds after start of charging. At the charging station, the technology programme demonstrated its outstanding endurance yet again. The CONCEPT AMG GT XX was able to maintain the 1,000 kW charging power for around two-and-a-half minutes. Up to 1,176 amperes of current flowed via the specially developed CCS charging cable. The system transmitted 17.3 kWh in just one minute, which is the equivalent of 125 kilometres of range (WLTP)

I guess the Car will have 2 ports MCS and CCS.

1041kW is nuts.

Is it a coincidence that Mercedes fans can't stand design criticism? Many take offense to even the slightest criticism. Interesting. If criticism bothers you, try ignoring it.
I don't really think that's the case. Mercedes fans were the harshest critics of the EQ cars. People have been similarly defensive over controversial BMW designs.

Perhaps people just have different tastes.

C-Klasse Electric.
I see several problems with this image. First is that the frontlights appear to be identical to the GLC. Second is the grille does not suit a sedan as good as an SUV. And third, why the heck MB has lost its traditional glass house shape and has gone to an Audi-looking one? That third window extending beyong the rear door looks so un-MB...

No one has a problem with BMW's illuminated kidneys. Their sheer size has been criticized. I've said it before. Mercedes grilles were a prominent design element. You're fascinated by BMW's approach with the NK, but it has small kidneys? The criticisms must be justified. Besides, it's been years since Mercedes offered this features.
