If they literally just make a 3-door G-wagen with a shorter wheelbase, they'll sell millions of the bastards. It will be very interesting to see the approach that they will give to this baby G, the same smaller, or something different, retromodern or something else...
If they do it well they will sell even what they don't have
The SV is surplus to requirements. What the defender has showed is that optics matter more to people than specs and "luxury. An SV variant is also on the way aimed at the AMG G63.
Honestly why bother with the Concept CLA as the new halo EV and advertising the crap out of it? Its efficiency, miles per kWh, is beaten by the Air 5.25 vs 5.27. The only difference is that the Lucid Air has been in production over a year and the CLA is a concept without any real world data.
What an odd thing to say.Honestly why bother with the Concept CLA as the new halo EV and advertising the crap out of it? Its efficiency, miles per kWh, is beaten by the Air 5.25 vs 5.27. It's being heralded as the most efficient car ever similar to the EQXX - which was a joke as it was a two off with a carbon tub and similar to the XL1 in its significance. What an odd thing to say.
Its like asking "Why bother marketing the Audi RS4 as the halo mid-size performance sedan, when the BMW M5 CS exists and is faster".
The CLA is not in the same market segment as the Lucid Air. Its smaller and cheaper.
They need to bring back physical controls and high quality materials.I love it, Fcuk yeah. Most of those on that list sound great. The EV era is the time O start anew, even for Mercedes-Benz. I especially like this part: “Also high up on their list are extraordinary quality and craftsmanship, world-class safety and comfort, autonomous- ready software and hardware, and EV fast charging in five minutes or less”. Mercedes knows how to do this. Get this right please!

In the past, screens and touch screens epitomised luxury and technology, as it was still expensive. Nowadays touchscreens are commodity items. Craftsmanship and tactile feedback are what marks something has feeling expensive.
Mercedes have been too slow in realising this, and vehicle designers for luxury brands have their heads too far up their arse about minimalism and "clean" aesthetics, that they've forgotten about usability and quality in craftsmanship.
Mercedes has the money to do this. And they should do it at all levels, not just in Maybach.
Infotainment being good has nothing to do with everything being a mirror-finish-fingerprint-magnet touchscreen.I don't think Mercedes failed to realize anything. I think they just became obsessed with the market that is buying their most expensive cars in the highest quantity, which is China. Just recently Ola said they're going to focus even more on the infotainment experience because Chinese makers remain ahead of everyone else.
What we're all hoping is that Mercedes can strike a balance and create a blended experience of new and old world.
Infotainment being good has nothing to do with everything being a mirror-finish-fingerprint-magnet touchscreen.
And they should hire proper UX designers to redesign MB.OS so that it looks more modern and doesn't have annoying opaque menus.
A 4dr SEC coupe S-class would be awesome. They need to attack the high end market, but make sure those models have magnificent interiors with brilliant material quality and exclusivity to properly challenge Bentely and lower end Ghost RR models. Mercedes have the potential and sure putting the right minds together in their Manufacturer Line can craft up some fine materials used for the interior of their top end models. So essentially moving the CLS up to a Maybach level, positioning against the RR Ghost or something? Or a 4-door version of the S-class coupe.
Would be lovely.
They need to bring the S-class coupe back. Even if its just as a Maybach (but a normal Benz would be grand) ... with a V12
