Schon 2027 kommt die elektrische E-Klasse EQ auf den Markt


Mercedes gibt den Kampf gegen die chinesischen Hersteller nicht auf. Ola Källenius hat nun entschieden die elektrische E-Klasse EQ vorzuziehen. Sie soll nun schon 2027 auf dem Markt kommen. Erlkönige wurden jedoch noch nicht gesehen.

Interessant ist diese nicht ganz neue Meldung daher, da Ola Källenius kürzlich noch erwähnt hat, dass der EQE ein Facelift erhält. Somit wird der EQE von EVA2 auf EVA2M umgestellt. Er hat dann 800 Volt, lädt schneller und fährt weiter. Das Facelift wird nicht vor Frühjahr 2026 erwartet.

Doch wenn dann schon die elektrische E-Klasse EQ im 2. Halbjahr 2027 erscheint, würde das Facelift des EQE gerade mal 12-18 Monate auf dem Markt sein.

Neue Plattform für elektrische E-Klasse
Wie jetzt bekannt wurde, hat Mercedes die Pläne für die elektrische E-Klasse vorgezogen. Ursprünglich sollte sie auf der MB.EA-L Plattform debütieren. Das L steht hier nicht für Luxus sondern für Large (die großen Fahrzeuge). Die Plattform ist jedoch noch nicht fertig, wobei die elektrische S-Klasse (welche auf dieser Plattform als erstes startet) für das Jahr 2028 angekündigt war.

Nun wird die elektrische E-Klasse von der MB.EA-L Plattform auf die MB.EA-M Plattform geswitcht. Dieser Schachzug ermöglicht es den Mercedes Ingenieuren die E-Klasse EQ schon im Jahr 2027 zu bringen. Auf der MB.EA-M Plattform kommt zuerst der GLC EQ (Weltpremiere am 07.09.2025) mit dem Marktstart im Frühjahr 2026 sowie die elektrische C-Klasse mit Marktstart im 2. Halbjahr 2026.

Da die elektrische C-Klasse leicht wachsen soll wird die E-Klasse EQ um die 5m Länge liegen.

Die derzeitige E-Klasse W214 wird parallel zur neuen elektrischen E-Klasse auf der Verbrenner Plattform MRA2 weiter produziert.

Beim Design gibt der neue GLC EQ die Richtung vor. Der neue Grill soll auch in der elektrischen E-Klasse kommen. Das Design der EQ Modelle soll sich dem der Verbrenner annähern.

Kleine Plattform ein Nachteil?
Die MB.EA-L Plattform sollte Cell-to-Body Technologie aufweisen. Bei der MB.EA-M kommen die Zellen wohl noch in Module (ähnlich wie bei der MMA Plattform).

Ola Källenius hat jedoch versprochen, dass die elektrische E-Klasse die Grenzen des Segments deutlich nach oben verschieben wird. Dies gilt insbesondere für den Antrieb, die Assistenzsyteme, die Reichweite und Effizienz, das Raumgefühl und den Komfort.

Für die elektrische E-Klasse kommen dann auch die eATS2.0 Large Motoren (wie GLC EQ und C-Klasse EQ) zum Einsatz. An der Hinterachse werden es maximal 340 PS. Im Verbund mit einer weiteren E-Maschine an der Vorderachse sind 489 PS möglich.

Der GLC Verbrenner und die E-Klasse (W214) basieren in der Verbrennerwelt auch auf derselben Plattform und laufen vom selben Band (zumindest in Sindelfingen). Die Ingenieure von Mercedes haben also auf derselben Plattform noch genügend Möglichkeiten zur Differenzierung nach oben.

There are no E class EQ prototypes yet, so don't really know what it'll look like.

Just focus on the EU, North America and some other major countries. That will still get you a market of a billion people and is perfectly fine.

That would indeed be an ideal scenario. However, it is sadly one that is currently highly unstable thanks to Donald Trump's (not only) tariff modus operandi and general "consumer Angst" throughout the EU with it's ever increasing regulation and the costs of which incurred as well as the insecurity in planning, inflation, possible increasing emphasis on "war economy" transformation. You are certainly correct that the mere consumer headcount presented by the EU and North America SHOULD be able to easily support this scenario. Unfortunately, it is not quite that easy.

It looks like Mercedes is really pushing forward with the EV E-class for launching in 2027. It wouldn't make sense for them to do any major styling facelift for the EQE. I would reckon it would be only a tech update to ETS 2.0 as per MMA and keep exterior looking much the same for 12 to 18 months.

This makes sense to launch in 2027 as this will be the same time the W214 E-class ICE is due for its mid term MOPF facelift.

I especially like your first design. The multi lined grill in chrome and the slim angular swept back lights and curvy lower body are hugely better than the EQS.

I mean when you really focus on these images you can see the outlines of the grille peeking through the camo.

I also believe that since the headlights got bigger, they will house both grille and headlights in a one single piece like the E-Class and V-Class
That way it will flow beautifully with the rest of the car imo.

Nope, I am not seeing that. The part where carscoops is written just above the license plate is not a part of the grille, IMO

Instead of messing arround with grilles and LED’s they should work with a complete redesign and reimagine their design from scratch.

The soap design with chromed mess, stars and illuminated exterior and interior crap should go.

The best thing that could happen to Mercedes and Audi would be if BMW’s Neue Klasse turns out to be a success, as it could start a trend of looking back to their essence.

My wish is a return to the sharp, prominent shapes of the W124 and W126/W140.

My exact thoughts. Nothing new came from them since like 2018. They just change the grille, add different headlights and taillights with different graphics, and put more and more screens.

I tried to somewhat alleviate the soap (or "pod", "egg", etc.) effect by attempting to increase the socalled "prestige clearance" between the base of the A-pillars and the hubs of the front wheels and hence lengthening the hood that lends to a more conventional silhouette. The rest is a bit of a hodge-podge of C257 CLS and EQS elements.

I was surprised as how Gemini AI appeared to accept my prompts regarding this particular image. Other of my fooling around experiments produced less compelling results, I'm afraid. I've been trying my luck on an envisioned production version of the Audi Grandsphere concept. They turned out...absolute shit.

The other day I also tried the Gemini AI. It does a better job at creating images with prompts than ChatGPT, they look much realistic and high quality, but it flops when it comes to turning a sketch into a 3D render. ChatGPT is much better at that one.

Do you mean this? Doesn't look that different to the regular ICE E class. Maybe a bit like the E class LWB in the rear. But otherwise it looks like a standard Mercedes sedan.
