In the sum of all factors, the most rewarding W124s' were those from the MOPF.1 (MY 1988-->MY 1992...the series that introduced the "Sacco Flank Planks"). They were relatively immune to rust and corrosion and were generally very well assembled-hence durable. The following MOPF.2 MY1993-->1995 "E-Class" introduced water-soluble paints near the end of its' cycle and re-introduced rust problems. The original pre-MOPF models (MY 1985-->1987) had some teething problems (bucking & yawing drivetrains, rust-especially the rocker panels near and around the jack inlets, etc...).
