Mercedes-Benz leads over BMW in January 2012 US sales

Makes sense actually, as M-B had stronger momentum toward the end of last year, and BMW handed out more and larger incentives.

The F30 should give BMW a strong push, and the 5-Series' sales are looking quite soft already at 3200. If I'm not mistaken, the E60 was selling more on the average month quite maturely into its production run? Also, looks like the CLS outsold the 6er this month (was the other way around last month). The way I see it, as much as I like the 6 Coupe more, the CLS is a bargain compared to it really, and that will start working against it more and more.... unless you're relatively tall and can't even fit in a damn CLS.

.... Hold up, did I just notice the B-Class? Do they sell those here already/now?

Audi's growing but they're still far behind. I find that to be a perk for the cars actually, as they still enjoy relative exclusivity (although, as unwanted as it may be).

wow, merc already have a 4k lead in the first month... ml and c class and e class really on fire.. is the sales increase of the gl due to the f/l?
interesting to see slk selling over double z4, is the new 3 already on sale??

Crazy how low volume the CL is. I wonder how its Sales have competed with the C215. I do know that the C215 seemed much more popular and still seems more prevalent on the roads.

im sure the previous gen sold atleast 2 to 3 times as much.. it obvious current gen is a bit of a flop. the car looks hideous in normal spec, but really outstanding in AMG Spec. but a car costing s class pricing should look decent standard as well.. the new gen cl cant come closer.....im sure merc are not happy with those numbers...

I agree. The current one seems very "soft" in terms of presence and popularity. It looks very imbalanced and bland in normal guise, which is weird as the car isn't a technically blandly detailed or proportioned car.... however, somehow, it just comes off as "bland". However, with an AMG Package and when equipped and better yet-modded just right, it definitely shows of how beautiful it can be, and it *can* indeed be beautiful.

The C215 was a massive hit though, I remember how insanely popular and prestigious it was when it came out.... everybody wanted one.... oddly enough, I never fell totally in love with it and found the styling a little off in some areas, preferring the W220 Sedan over it. The first gen CL was also a huge statement and hit.

The key to the first two were huge monolithic designs, IMO. The current one got sculpted and more detailed, that are good things in their own right, but somehow working with the nature and architecture, I feel they may have worked against the car, in comparison to the slab sided first two.

Whoa, the 5er isn't doing that well at the moment in the U.S. I wonder why, as it appears to be a gigantic hit in Europe....

The E Sedan apparently still outsells the 5er Sedan out here, and even if it didn't/doesn't, the 5er is one year newer, BMW outsold M-B last year, and the E60 outsold the W211, so the F10 should essentially have the advantage.

The E Coupe/Vert sells in very small numbers every month, and they aren't a common sight.... I'd guess well under 1K units sold a month. Let's not forget the 5 GT also contributes to 5er Sales. :D

If I remember correctly, the E60 was selling 3-5K units even amidst the 2007-2009 recession stage in its last years on the market, I'm curious to see how well the F10's sales are in comparison, as numbers and market share wise, in comparo with the E60, it appears to be relatively soft. Of course, Car Sales are much higher now than they were 8 years ago, and with natural population increase, the F10 selling more than the E60 should be a given, i.e not even a sign of added popularity unless the numbers are disproportionately higher.

Sales BMW of North of America - Can anybody explain what they mean with North of America?

^there aint no mix up..other than MB posting all E´s figures together
Like bmw has been doing for ages with the 3er..

But u want to cry about the fact that the E coupe is based off the C class platform..

But no one cares:D

Intresting to see the 3-series selling more than it did last year. Only in America of course :D
