Mercedes-Benz GLK Facelift Photos

I've seen many many GLKs in different colours and trims (big wheels are very common for them it seems).
I don't find it ugly, even of the rear is bland and the interior rather cheap-looking.

But, I dunno, I cannot manage to like it. It's a car that, despite its striking appearance, lets me totally and irremediably cold. I am totally uninterested by it, without knowing why. It has 0 appeal to me. :t-hands:

The problem with the GLK is that it does nothing better than any other car. It´s just another average car, totally anonymous. What does it have? the front is a disaster, the headlights shape is terrible, the grille weird, which make the front end, something which MB use to do very good, totally bad looking. The the side profile, the whole car shape look like a shoe, exactly what made the old X3 ugly. The profile lines, with that rear wheel arch, are also ugly, not to mention when it has that off-road pack with the blakc plastics. The rear isn´t bad at all. It´s not incredibly nice, nor tells you anything, but it is better than the rest of the car.

The interior is just ugly deisgned and cheap looking, not worthy of the MB badge, and only that big piece of trim across the dash saves it from being what the pre-LCI W204 interior was. The gauges, the steering wheel, both bad designed and meh looking.

And then the engines, which are good, of course, as in any MB, but neither of them is a reference in nothing, so, Why woudl anyone buy a GLK? I can only think in someone who likes the SUVs, wants to have an MB but can´t afford the ML.

The Q5 is by far better looking, the same case with the X3, looking both of them like and small SUV rather than a shoe.

Facelift will not help, by far the worst looking SUV in its class, the Q5 eats it alive. Start over MBZ!

I know i might get bashed here but i really wonder is this car as bad looking as its made out to be..Yes it is boxy but i dont really think boxy or squarish is necceseraly means its ugly..

I know it wont be a award winner in trms off looks and i have never seen a real one as its not in RHD countries like SA...

I Know it may not be the most beautifull but i think its far from ugly..

MB went gimmicky with the GLK, and it sticks out like a sore thumb in its segment. Audi and BMW both went with flowing smooth lines on the Q5 and X3. Another problem for the GLK is that it is not as large as either of those. I haven't seen inside the new X3, but it looks to be substantially larger, almost on par with an ML. The Q5 is too dull for many. I like it a lot for that reason. Simple, elegant.

They really should have made this SUV round. The boxy look only looks good on the G-class. I just hope the next M-class doesn't look like a grown version of this.

Ooh, such an ugly little Truck. The GL and ML are leagues better for sure. The upcoming ML will definitely look nothing like this.

Just by the reactions in this thread it's obvious the glks styling is polarizing. Most mb fans dont even like it. I get it's appeal, but mb does need to bring it in line in terms of tech and interior finish. That said I bet they're kicking themselves for letting the design department take the vehicle in this direction. You can bet that next generations style will be more universally appealing.

In the X1 vs Q3 poll it's a very close call, if the GLK was there IMO it would have surely been the one with the least amount of votes....

Being a Benz, I will vote GLK instead of Q3;)

Sorry guys, I don't feel your problems. Have loved the GLK since the first day. The angular shape makes it look mature, the relationship to GL and G-Class are definitely there, yet a sense of individuality is still present.
Interior quality has been more than just satisfying in most examples I have yet taken a seat in. The car has a very solid feel to it, which is surprising considering the interior is just another version of the pre-MoPf C-Class.

Ah! Looks so terrible in those pics. This is one of those cars that looks absolutely horrid when the mind-tricks of shiny bits and elements aren't at play.

I don't know what you're talking about. The car has a completely new face with completely new headlights that literally look 10 million times better than the old one.

There's hope and potential now.

I agree the changes are for the good. Notice all changes mean a more rounded/organic front end. But my main concern about this car is about its shoe proportions, same as with the first X3. I hope for the next GLK, they do the same as BMW with the X3, just make a small X5/ML, with its own design details, but correct proportions.

Oh, and this seems to be the confirmation that MB is going organic again.

Here's a video titled "GLK - SUV with character" with GLK designers Steffen Köhl and Volker Hellwig, explaining why they rejected the "organic", flowing look, which they said is too international, and preferred a different style, with e.g. more edges to give the GLK more character, possibly inspired by the G?
