The Mercedes-Benz GLC is a compact luxury crossover SUV introduced in 2015 for the 2016 model year that replaced the GLK-Class. According to Mercedes-Benz, it is the SUV equivalent to the C-Class.
I just wonder if the fixed the silver door pulls and they don't make the plastic rickety sound the current model does.

Wasn't that fixed a while back? ;)

Just drove the Baby Benz to Tyler & back. King Cake Fetching & Grocery Getting Duty. GLK delivered Nov. 19, 2011. 4500+ miles. I squeezed. Squoozed. Squuzed. Pulled. Pushed. Mashed. Yanked. Etc. on the driver's side door handle. Silence. Take your noisy door handles to your dealer and tell them to make your doors as quiet as the doors built on Oct. 15, 2011. Quiet like the doors Wayne has.

Don't know if it's common, but very positive. Yes, the GLK is much improved, and we are getting good response in sales on the GLK. I think the front end changes are much better. Can't wait for diesel version. The only negative is pricing. A GLK cost as much as an ML did just a few years back.

As the video shows the Apps are a joke. Trying to demo this to a prospect is nothing short of embarrassing. Plus it only functions when car is stationary. It's expensive and offers nothing a smart phone doesn't already offer at 100X the speed. Shame on MB. Not well thought out and poorly executed. Tying it into Mbrace is another poor decision.

Might the “Drive Kit Plus” be in the pipeline? ;)

App development in Silicon Valley
News from Palo Alto
In recent years digital technology has fundamentally changed our lives.
At the Mercedes-Benz Research and Development center in California
the “App Development Group” is working on ways to make the exciting
possibilities of mobile communication accessible to car drivers.

One example of seamless integration of the Apple® iPhone® is the soon
to come “Drive Kit Plus”. Together with the new, in-house developed
“Digital DriveStyle App”, drivers can access all the key content of their
iPhone® like Facebook®, Twitter® and internet personalized radio through
the in-vehicle display and enjoy safe and convenient operation of the
device via the Controller on the center armrest.

Additionally, access to the voice-based intelligent companion Siri™ will be
enabled. Given verbal instructions, for example, it will access the personal
calendar to make or decline requests for appointments or meetings. SMS
text messages can be dictated or read out, and emails sent. Siri™ can also
be used to access the complete range of music stored on an iPhone® or
to request the latest weather forecast.

GLK-Class AMG version rejected

Mercedes-Benz will build a next generation GLK-Class in right-hand-drive for Australia, but AMG has declined producing a powered-up version of the compact SUV. This is despite AMG committing to an increased use of all-wheel-drive in an expanded line-up. The GLK-Class, due in 2015 and based on the next C-Class platform, was tipped to follow the A-Class and CLA-Class offering a high performance flagship version for the first time.

AMG director of vehicle development Tobias Moers has kyboshed the idea, however, saying that it wouldn’t be a good move for the AMG brand.

“We had the discussions about that [GLK-Class AMG],” confirmed Moers. “Right now we don’t see that market.
“Maybe we will change our mind, but right now we don’t see a marketing approach for that.
“Maybe there will be a change in market when the Porsche [Macan] comes up, but right now, no.
“It would be a huge investment for us … to make it a real AMG”.

Asked whether Moers believes Audi has diluted the ‘RS’ nameplate with its compact SUV model, the development boss replied “I think so.” “What they [Audi] did with the RSQ3, I don’t think is the right strategy. “It’s not enough horsepower for an RS model…” The current generation GLK-Class is built in left-hand-drive, all-wheel-drive specification only, however the next model will make it to Australia, with both right-hand-drive and rear-wheel-drive models available.

The diesel GLK is officially here in the U.S. I wonder if people are interested. I'm not crazy about the GLK, but a diesel GLA would give me a second thought.

Does anyone know what that square outline in the bumper is for? Or what that part could be called?

^ Thanks Betty. I apologize for posting the same question in the C and GLK threads; mine got stolen yesterday and I was in a bit of a panic to find out what it was called.
