GLC [Spy Shots]: Refreshed Mercedes-Benz GLK

The Mercedes-Benz GLC is a compact luxury crossover SUV introduced in 2015 for the 2016 model year that replaced the GLK-Class. According to Mercedes-Benz, it is the SUV equivalent to the C-Class.
Looks like a CR-V and a Subaru Forrester had a one night stand.

This car needs the diesel, as this is a strongly competitive segment, and the current GLK gets crappy mileage as its stuck with the old V6. The front does have a more organic shape, but it doesn't flow with the squarish shape of the rest of the vehicle.

Unfortunately it looks like we're gonna see this IMO amateur mismash look of organic fronts on angular vehicles while M-B do a 180 on their design presentation/idiom (save for the all new cars coming out starting around now). Sloppy design language transitions, especially if you take into account how new the angular themes still are, as it was just 4 or so years ago that M-B was still putting out the early 2000's inspired, rounded themes.

Yeah I don't get it. Mercedes is just losing it all over the place. I don't really care about the GLK though so I guess its whatever to that. The SL I can deal with, but if they mess up the S/CL there will be no words.

Here's a video titled "GLK - SUV with character" with GLK designers Steffen Köhl and Volker Hellwig, explaining why they rejected the "organic" flowing look, which they said is too international, and preferred a different style, with e.g. more edges to give the GLK more character, now further refined with elements inspired by the F800 Style? ;)

They should just stick with the edgy look and keep refining it. It is, after all, the Mercedes hallmark look and in this day actually separates the brand from everywhere else. Problem is, it's like they went from round to edgy and are right away going back to round? Constant revolutions lately with little evolutions, it seems.

I guess there's no accounting for personal tastes because I effing love the GLK. The fact that it's not made in RHD precludes it from markets where it is eminently suited. GLK would rock in Southern Africa and Australia.

Its styling dispenses with contemporary SUV stereotyping in favour of a more rugged, utilitarian image that cleverly sets it apart from its direct rivals. Yes, I do see some reminders of Forester but for me it's much more reminiscent of the seminal rugged SUV - the Jeep Cherokee.

It's the anti-SAV with emphasis on Utility where it should be - Activity's for yoga, spinning and health spas; Utility's for trail running, snowboarding and mountain biking. Bluetec 220 CDI with 7G-tronic? I couldn't think of a more suitable replacement for my Forester.

RHD GLK confirmed. :)

"The UK will finally get a Mercedes-badged rival to the BMW X3 and Audi Q5 in the shape of a new GLK, which is set to arrive in the next two to three years."

MB Australia might not offer the new GLK. They prefer the GLA?

Well that would be incredibly stupid of MB Australia. Audi managaes to have the Q3, Q5 and Q7 with even a Q1 coming. BMW has the X3 and X1, which the GLK and GLA should compete with respectively.
