Re: GL-class Picture Thread

DAmn this is one of the hottest SUV´s ive ever seen

my only complaint is allthough the wheels are 20 inch..they look DWARFED by the car..
it needs bigger and nicer wheels.. but they gotta be black:D

Re: GL-class Picture Thread

Sorry Artist - I dislike those painted rims... :D I also don't like, that this GL doesn't have Bi-Xenon lights (I miss the chromed fog lights)! Nevertheless the GL looks great in black...

Word is that pricing and release of the new 2008 GL550 for the US market should be next week. Has the V8 5.5, AMG 21" wheels, wheel flares, new grille and most all options standard. Car and Driver has some pics of it at the NY show but I am anxious to see some official images along with the pricing. I think the base will be close to $80K US, and a option loaded one with RSE and KG will get near or exceed $85K...:eusa_clap

Stay tuned....

You are correct ree, it will have the Bluetec Vision grille and a new front bumper.

I corrected the wheel size...it will have 21" AMG wheels. No optional wheels.

cool cant wait for that version

PS
how did you gather that it didnt have bixenons?

The bi-xenons are part of the lighting package and if there is no chrome trim around the fog lights, then it doesn't have bi-xenons.

This model is for the US/Canada market only so I understand. EU already has the GL500 (US 550) but the extra "exclusive features" (as MB calls them)will only be on this model.

Well it's not unattractive Jack, but I don't feel like it was necessary.
You are probably right about being necessary, but it's all about competition and this elevates the GL to the top of the heap. Reaction on another forum has been very positive with some 450 owners wanting to replace their grilles with the 550 model...:-)

That new grill gives the GL so much presence, not that it was lacking in it before hand!

I wonder if it's only for the American market or will Europe get it as well?
