Opens for reservation of the Mercedes-Benz EQC
Press Release -- Mercedes-Benz Norway
(Lørenskog) Norwegian customers can now reserve the next generation electric car from Mercedes-Benz, as the first and only in the world. The production model is the size of today's GLC, gets 500 km range, 4MATIC and a design strongly inspired by the Concept EQC. The car will come to Norway in 2019.
"Ever since the Concept EQC appeared during the Paris Motorshow in 2016, our dealers have been run over by customers who wished to reserve the next model. We have been working with the factory for a long time to meet these wishes and today, as the first market in the world, can launch the reservation solution that many have been waiting for, "said Kjetil Myhre, director of Mercedes-Benz Passenger Cars.
How to book
Via the link https://bilkjop.mercedes-benz.no/eq-reservasjon/ , the customer selects his dealer and pays a deposit of SEK 20,019 to secure his place in the queue. The amount is fully refundable until the purchase contract is signed and then the customers will of course have access to all details of the production model. For reasons of fairness, the number of reservations per person is limited to one, and there will be no opportunity to sell its place in the queue.
Newly developed architecture
The new generation of electric cars, which will count a total of 10 by 2022 (including 3 smart), is based on an architecture specifically designed for battery-powered models, with clever use of steel, aluminum and carbon fiber. The platform is scalable and can therefore be used for a wide range of segments and body variations. The EQC production model is the size of today's GLC and gets a design strongly inspired by the "Concept EQ". The concept car has a new light signature with black panel grille and an illuminated white star, with a corresponding design back.Furthermore, there will be extensive use of LED and fiber optics to emphasize the car's electrical signature.
Electric four wheel drive
"Concept EQC" has two electric motors located on the front and rear axles with the battery pack installed low between the axles. This design, along with all-wheel drive, ensures optimum safety and dynamic driving experience through the electric motors that produce up to 300 Kw (408 hp) with a torque of 700 Nm. 0-100 km / h is performed in less than 5 seconds and operates at a range of up to 500 km (NEDC).
Extended charging options
The car is ready for charging via fast-charging stations, home wall box and induction charging. With the stationary "Mercedes-Benz energy storage unit" home with its own solar panels it could use "green" surplus production for charging, regardless of the conventional power grid. Significantly reduced charging time comes with the introduction of quick charging via the Combined Charging System (CCS). The European charging standard allows fast charging with a much larger capacity than today. Currently charging capacity ranges from 50 up to 150 kW, but in the medium to long term, charging capacity of up to 300 kW is planned. This will allow 100 local emission-free kilometers to be charged within five minutes.
"Based on the demand for electric cars in Norway, we have great expectations for the future models of the Mercedes-Benz EQ. EQC is the first model in 2019 and it will then be followed by a new model every 6-12 months in all segments by 2022. At the IAA in Frankfurt, we saw the "Concept EQA" indicating how the first EQ Series electric compact model would look so there is little doubt that the future is bright for Norwegian customers, concludes Myhre.
