Do you know if the Elegance line is still available in the US Marcus? It's been ditched for the Australian market and all E-class's come with the Avantgarde grill, sports suspension and at least 18" wheels. I really hope it still retains enough of that classic Mercedes ride refinement for those who want it. Otherwise airmatic is a $5000 option.

Ouch, that sucks. The sports grill looks very bad from my POV. Very glad we still have the normal grille here in Europe.

The sports grille looks extremely aftermarket on the E class. And the shutlines are beyond ugly.

I'm not sure. It appears so since there is a picture of one with the traditional grille on the MBUSA website.

The whole exterior i would prefer the pre FL. i don't see any art in the FL rear lights, at least the pre FL got a strip of white in the middle that to make it appear less like a big blob of red.
I just feel sorry for the pre FL, you know it's not the most beautiful car but at least there was a consistent design language that worked. Looking at these 2 cars from the front, they are like fully different cars, and there are just so many they could do to the pre FL and do a "proper facelift" to refine that design to make it better, not just partially change the whole car by basically replacing the front end with something so soft and curvy, and the grille integration is really ugly especially the sports model. The FL to me is like a half done job, ok three quarters done perhaps.

Normally, cars tend to look better with an sports package, but the 2014 E-class is the opposite. If I were going to buy one, I'd stick with the luxury trim and hold it right there.

I'm yet to see the sports grill in person and will decide then. On some pictures I think it looks gorgeous and on others less so.

The revised Elegance grill looks beautiful to me and it's such a shame we won't get it here. Im certain MB is going to alienate a few clientelle, particularly older ones, who prefer the Elegance line and soft suspension tune. Also, there is a little bit of specialness to seeing that 3 pointed star sitting proudly at the top of the hood as you fly down the freeway in complete comfort and refinement, something that came to mind as a I drove our E home this evening. It seems like that only the S will have that in the Australian market now. Such a shame.

it seems that the US E will have the elegance grill but you'll notice it isn't heavily featured in any of the large pictures which leads me to think that they're going to push the sport line harder. Kind of silly to think that a big ass three pointed star is going to drive sales further. Shame for the fans of the traditional look. damn shame.

Briefly saw a FL E in the oncoming traffic..

Looked good
I have to visit the dealer to take a closer look though
