Concept Mercedes-Benz Concept IAA at 2015 Frankfurt Show

I take my words back. The interior does look nice with the lights. It reminds me of the Covenant ships :D

Yep, I have fond memories of Halo

This is just plain ugly. (n)Same design team as the F015 Luxury in Motion concept? The interior does indeed look really good.

Nothing really new here in terms of aerodynamics, big trucks have similar aero kits to reduce drag.

Yes. From the IAA Commercial Vehicles in Hannover, in 2012. :)

An important component of the complete aerodynamic system is the "boat tail", a rear taper measuring up to 400 mm in length. It improves the air resistance of the entire tractor unit by a full seven percent. Its elements can be folded away, ensuring the usual easy access to the cargo compartment. The wings of the rear taper are made of aluminium sections and the sides are elegantly curved. Daimler

I would say that with some time and the adaption of more realistic details it could eventually be the next CLS. The only issue is with that rear the CLS might even gain a proper hatch over a conventional boot.

Or, perhaps, a "Tesla fighter"??? :)

Mercedes confirms Tesla fighter

FRANKFURT -- Mercedes-Benz will bring out an electric-powered Tesla fighter in the next few years.

Thomas Weber, Daimler AG board member in charge of group research and Mercedes-Benz car development, confirmed in an interview here that Mercedes plans to begin selling an electric vehicle with a range of 400-500 kilometers (250 to 310 miles) within a few years, possibly in 2018.

The planned EV isn’t meant to be competitive with the company’s electric versions of the Smart ForTwo, Mercedes B-class or the Mercedes-AMG SLS, Weber said.

“It’s something different,” he said. “It’s unique; it’s emotional. Wait and see.”

The vehicle likely will need to be a larger vehicle to accommodate the size of the battery pack necessary for that proposed range.

Some of the aerodynamic features shown in the automaker’s Intelligent Aerodynamic Automobile concept unveiled this week in Frankfurt could be used to help extend electric range, Weber said.

“Aerodynamics is and will be important,” he said.

My sentiments exactly. I am attempting to envisage the IAA Concept with a C217 or AMG GT-like front end and a rear end similar to the aforementioned. Perhaps an ever-so-slightly elevated roofline and...ET VOILA !.
