GLB [Concept] Mercedes-Benz GLB Concept

The Mercedes-Benz GLB (model code X247) is a crossover SUV produced by Mercedes-Benz. The GLB is positioned between the GLA and the larger GLC in size, however unlike these vehicles the GLB is equipped with optional third row seating due to better space distribution.
Looks better than I had expected from recent spy pic, proportions looks better. But I await and see what it looks like in standard procution spec without the big wheels and rasied suspension. I quite like the interior, it's a good marriage of A-class switchgear and G-class aesthetics...but I am a sucker for open-poor wood and brown leather. Overall, I am more optimisitic than I was a few days ago.

I think this looks fantastic, especially like what they did to the interior with the alcantara/suede used on the seats and dash and the machined wood trim, looks classy. Exterior looks rugged and macho like no other rival can match. I hope the production version will not lose the added on rugged trim of the concept.

It 100% will.

The packaging of smaller SUVs have become exceptionally good across all brands. This weekend I jumped between the backseats of Q3 and Q5. The Q5 only has an edge if in practicality if you maximise the boot at every opportunity.

Even the X1 is pretty much as practical as the X3. However, there are noticeable differences in athletisim, han...
GLC gets MBUX for 2020, so not exactly.

It's looks very cool in concept guise. But I don't see the point in releasing a concept literally months before the official reveal. The let down is so great when all the 'cool' elements are stripped, ala what happened with the X-class.

Too me Benz should be more angular, more Teutonic. Fire Wagener & his army of bar of soap designers already & bring someone with more Sacco-like design philosophy & ideology on board (again).

Couldn't agree more. I am really disappointed with some of their recent designs. The GLS, for example, just appear unimaginative to me for a new model over the previous one. And the headlights design on this GLB is also very bean-shaped plain. I hope the S class wont be ruined with these new headlight designs which appear to be gaining the family look.

In fairness. X-Klasse had no where else to go given its "shared"attributes.
GLB is entirely separate. But they should do an off-road package like the concept.

At mark 9:10 Matt gives you a good idea of what kind of space you can expect from the GLB.

Amazing. I have been eager for a video of someone getting inside the car. Like I expected, the interior room is game changing and the back seats are usable for grown adults.

He's 180cm/5'11.

Let's not forget that this car will be cheaper than the GLC, 50% cheaper than a GLE and almost a 3rd of the GLS in price.

Pretty damn cool, has a G and GLK vibe to it.
I like boxy SUV's.
Interior minus the trim color is really superb to.

Seeing the video the space in the rear seat is very good he is of a good height and he has decent headroom and his legs don't touch the back of the second row seat.

If you have a small family like a couple with 3 kids this will be a hit even older kids will fit very well at the back and shorter adults easily fit at the back.

Yupp. Grand parents will fit in the back and the largest passengers will ride in the front or second room. Therfore the third row will be much more ample than some might think.

Exactly, let's wait and see when the rough and ready bits are gone including exagerrated off-road tyres with their implausible rolling diameter giving unrealistic ground clearance. Then we can judge fairly.

Looks like my grandmother's wardrobe cabinet...:happy001::happy001::happy001:

This exemplifies everything about the modern Mercedes interior idiom that doesn't work for me. The unshielded and free standing dual tablet display panel in particular just doesn't resonate with me. There's no flow to the dashboard, instead you get this increasingly modular look - almost Meccano-like - with a separated, clip-on effect. It seems to be the trend that several other manufacturers are following (mostly to a lesser, more conservative extent than Mercedes) but this approach just doesn't do it for me.

Technology has made ineterior design tricky as big screens are the elephants in the room.

The W219 is my favourite Mercedes interiors. Looking at it today I still find tranquility in the flow of the design, small screen and steering wheel without excessive girth.

Mercedes current integration of screens isn’t the best but big screens have showroom appeal so they have understandoy decided to go big rather than being caught on the back foot. However the lack of a hood over the screens in the recent Mercs do create a tacked on look.

The new upcoming Honda EV has a similar set-up. In that, I don't mind it one bit. But in something more higher-end, like a M-B, I find it a bit chintzy. Let's just say I have a higher expectation for the German luxo brands.
