Hot! Mercedes-Benz/BMW/Audi USA Sales

Mercedes and BMW are going down to the wire again this year. They both have a lot of new product landing in Sept-Oct.

Lexus is trying to come roaring back too. 29K+ sold in one month is ridiculous.

Perhaps I'm reading your #s wrong but Autoblog reported the following #s for these brands:

MB = 26,151*
BMW = 24,523*
Audi = 14,005

*MB and BMW #s don't include Smart or Mini.

Autoblog is wrong. Here is the actual press release from Mercedes-Benz USA:

Mercedes sold 24,761, NOT including Smart and Sprinter. Autoblog is adding Sprinter to the total, which is wrong. Sprinter isn't a luxury vehicle.

Marcus, where did you get the 29k figure for Lexus? According to this link, Lexus is at ~17k.
Lexus brand up 16.7 percent over last year, selling a total of 16,978 vehicles

In this world of creative accounting practices, perhaps Lexus has decided to report cars built for the US market, because hey, they will all be sold....eventually.

Mercedes - 27474

Those figures include Sprinter van & Smart cars.

Sept 2013 US sales figures for MB only are: 24,697 (+6.7%) ... YTD 215,056 (+12.2%)
CLA sales finally kicked in (2,130 units sold in September).

Mercedes still leading....Lexus and BMW have cooled off. I knew the CLA was going to post some big numbers. They are quite literally flying off the lots with a lot of people buying right after they test drive one.

BMW cooled off? Their sales are growing faster this year than MB's. And that was the case in September as well - although the absolute sales figures were lower compared to the MB ones.

Mind 4er Coupe sales are starting to kick in, and X5 F15 sales start is around the corner. And the new 3er & 5er diesel models as well are coming.

It will be an interesting Q4. But ... last year at the same time BMW was trailing by 5,221 units (and @ the end of the year BMW still won by 7,326 unit margin), while this year after Q3 the difference is only 2,491 units (in MB's favor).

Not to mention that last year MBN won lost the "sales" competition, but won "registered vehicles" category. While this year BMW - although trailing behind MB in sales category - is winning the "registered vehicles" one.

Does the number really matter? Which ones? Is all about prestige & marketing effects?

Before to pop a gasket I meant vs last month. NO need for the Gettysburg address full of what is going to happen and crying about last year.

If MB edge out BMW ..there will be some tremendous bitching on this forum:D

Yeah, exactly what we went through during the last 7 years! Now it's your turn to go through the same... a new feeling is always good they say :D

Pssst don't worry... it ain't happening

I just noticed that Mercedes sold over 1800 G-Classes this year in the U.S. That is some serious money at 113K a pop to start. That is way more units sold than the CL and the SLS. Yikes.

I was more upset over the decline of quality at mercedes, i could not care less about how many they sell.
But when they sell more than BMW..well hey thats just another thing to annoy BMW fans with.
And im always in the market of new things to annoy with:D

PS
I wonder when this forum will catch on to the fact that BMWs quality is declining, elsewhere in the car world there are popping up some clues of possible disaster, but its very hush hush here:D

Cost cutting comes back to bite you in the ass, ask Daimler Chrysler;)
