GT 4-Door Coupé (X290) Mercedes-AMG GT 63 S Becomes Fastest 4-Door Coupé On The ‘Ring With 7:25.41 Lap

The Mercedes-AMG GT 4-Door Coupé (X290) is the first generation five-door variant of the AMG GT two-door sports car. Production: September 2018– Model years: 2019–
Its quite amazing that nowadays a car like this, 4dr family carrying luxury saloon, with a mass of 2000kg can almost match a supercar like the Enzo with even more power 660PS and 500kg lighter weight of a generation ago around the tough circuit like N Ring. It must be massive change in tyre technology that has benefited the times alot.

Yes, and AWD, rear wheel steering, force vectoring diffs, bespoke near-race spec suspensions, etc.

I guess this wil prove to many Haters who said it's just a E63 with a differnt design..You can see Mercedes and AMG have worked this car IN a different way then the E63 it's like another level look forward to some reviews.

I would not be surprised if in Sport auto Supertest it would be slower than the M5. Just same situation like for example with Civic type r (or Giulia) , that it beat in Honda test more impresive cars but comparing on other tracks it can't beat shit. But it's not in every manufacturer test for example Huracan performante did lap record and it was actually fastest on every other track until Gt2 RS come out. Gt2 rs is another example of being fast everywhere.

^AMG GT R did better Ring time than Porsche 918 by Sport auto and that doesn't make GT R better track car than 918. So even if GT63 S laps slower than M5 in Sport auto test, you can't say right now that M5 is a better track car.

^^I don't know why I am responding to you nikola1984, because I shoud be responding to Hans:

Different drivers, apples vs oranges.

Good pointers, alot of new tech suspension wise in the AMG GT 63. Looking at that video, the driver didn't seem to push it very hard in some corners he even took the foot off the throttle some time before the corners were even close. I reckon if it was pushed harder this car could get 7:20 or less. Max Speed reached was approx. 296km/h.

The
Jaw-dropping numbers for a 4-door
That is truly an incredible feat for such a heavy car. Wow

The XE did it in 7:21.23, if this time isn't valid then neither are any limited production models like the Porsche GT2 or GT3 RS.

Whether a car is a good track car or not depends on how easy it is to approach its limits. This cannot be judged on laptime alone. The Porsche Carerra GT was an absolute track demon but with no assists, only the very skilful can drive it very fast.
