I have a feeling that Mercedes is going to make some type of large-scale announcement about their "Track Series" cars very soon. They'll show this sportier SLR and the production version of the special SLK55 and the updated AMG performance packages for the new E63 and CLS63. Just my guess. I suspect this will happen next month at the unveiling of the new musuem which will also bring us the new CL.

Can't believe it's 20 years since the last post of a SLR on this thread!

I still love the SLR it's design still looks so beautiful and eye catching. One of the best best sports coupes ever in my opinion.

That 5.4 Supercharged V8 is a monster engine and check the smooth front underneath panel and the rear diffuser.

I have only seen it once in real life when I was in Qatar and its a stunning car on the road.

I remember seeing them when they were new at car shows, they seemed massive a sorta larger than life car. The one that stands out was a goldish grey roadster that a lady wrote a check for at the car show and put a deposit right there and then, and the Merc employee put a reserved sign on it. Talk about goals.

Off topic, but the SLS price has gone up more than 100% since its introduction.
They probably ask a pretty penny for the SLR too these days.

The SLR is a Car that might become the perfect restomod.

I’d primarily change the transmission and put the 9G MCT in this thing, and change the suspension( add adaptive dampers), I might put a different exhaust on it as well with a valve.

Everything else is almost perfect.
