Maybe a new car today?

haha, I know my friend has an RS6, it’s a beast, I would love to own one but I don’t own any oil wells.

WTF are you talking about? You live in Norway, FFS! A country that's rich of good quality oil and one of the lowest income inequality rates in the world. Of course you can afford a new A6 Avant V6 TDI. Screw this BEV rubbish, get yourself another A6, because you know you want another one.

Would be nice but it's at least 500k NOK more than the i4.

It will be an interesting first drive home, its been snowing a lot the last two days and I have to drive over a mountain. The local BMW dealer is a Mini service partner but not a sales partner, the Mini sales dealer is 60km away.

I picked her up today, it was bloody cold, -12 this morning, the range was down to 160km, I’ve driven 140km today. So far it’s been enjoyable, not the best weather, really slippery, winter tires, fwd and instant torque don’t go well with icy roads.

The bad bits which were sprung on me this morning. No heated steering wheel, that’s not a deal breaker, no alarm, it’s Norway chances of it getting stolen are slim, and no adaptive cruise control, that one does suck, although I’ve been told the MINIs camera based system isn’t the best and I won’t miss it. Plus point I got 2 keys, a lot of BMW products are being delivered with a single key right now. They also threw in rubber mats and boot liner.

I received a pretty good discount when we bought it, but we are discussing what else can be offered.

These are the winter rims, this is what MINI deliver if you want 17in winter wheels. My summer wheels are tentacles.

Nothing, I was going to trade the A1 but we might keep now that my oldest is 17 and is getting his license.
So, how much of a shock it was compared to the A1? What I have in mind is whether the lack of an ICE is so evident that it's the center of the attention of the whole car, or the whole car just feels more civilized, that the lack of ICE is not the center point of it?

The biggest difference is the instant power and the lack of noise, it’s very quiet, what I will miss is changing gears, and I have to get used to one peddle driving, when you take your foot off the accelerator it slows very quickly. I can’t wait for summer.

My question may have sounded a bit odd, but today, at lunch break, I went for a quick test drive of the new Clio and for "comparison purposes" I went there with my Clio, a first model year mk1 one. Switching cars felt like a violent time travel, with the new one being completely silent, rattle free and, well, isolated from the outside world. It also felt totally and utterly fake.

On the drive back to my office I lift-off oversteered a couple of times, just for the sake of it. Modern cars are not fun enough for me. I understand them, I might enjoy them from time to time, but I wouldn't be happy with one, at least with my current mindset.

So the question that rose to my mind, is how much of a different would be a switch from a modern A1 to an electric car, compared to jumping up five generations of Clio.

:)
