A Name Rooted in Heritage

The inspiration behind the name "Sadair’s Spear" is deeply personal. Christian von Koenigsegg previously honoured his father, Jesko, on his 80th birthday by naming the Koenigsegg Jesko after him—a heartfelt tribute for his invaluable support during Koenigsegg’s formative years.

Jesko von Koenigsegg was a passionate gentleman jockey with lifelong ties to Sweden’s equestrian community. His favourite racehorse—the one he rode in his final race in 1976—was named Sadair’s Spear.

Fittingly, the car bearing this storied name is uncompromisingly engineered for peak track performance.

Really amazing!

How do you only gain 1.1 s over Attack (pushed to 90%, running on pump gas) on Gotland Ring's 7.3 km, while claiming +20% downforce, slightly more power, less weight and more contact patch? 🤔

The performance improvement is basically zero, but it looks nice. I believe a front-axle motor would be a better choice, but Jesko doesn't seem to have redundant design. The development difficulty of creating a hybrid Jesko is on par with designing an entirely new car.

On paper it should be significantly faster. It must have been a Sunday drive type of lap record. Hopefully they will return with a serious attempt.
They've been traction limited for so long now. Jesko replacement has got to have some sort of light hybrid assist with electric FWD.

The Koenigsegg Sadair's Spear set a lap record for homologated production cars at Gotland Ring during its first shakedown laps on June 16, 2025.

The vehicle used was one of the Sadair's Spear test cars, driven by Development Test Driver Markus Lundh.

The 7.3 km (4.5-mile) Gotland Ring is renowned for its challenging layout and dynamic terrain, blending fast straights with technically demanding corners. Nestled on Sweden’s largest island, this eco-conscious circuit features sweeping curves and significant elevation changes, putting both driver skill and vehicle performance to the test. The Sadair's Spear set a new lap time of 2:55.88, recorded and verified by Racelogic.
Koenigsegg Sadair's Spear: 2:55.88 (-1.09s)
...Koenigsegg Jesko Attack: 2:56.97

I used to be very dismissive and disparaging of Koenigseggs years ago, calling them born in a Swedish barn specials. I was wrong about them because now, Koenigsegg are actually cool AF.

The newer models are really impressive with some amazing technical innovations. I like the styling and interiors they look more bespoke and worthy of their multi million dollar price tags.

This latest Sadair Spear is a beast.

This is the money shot, it looks amazing. Full of aggression and great colour combo.

  • The Koenigsegg Sadair's Spear is the newest and most aggressive hypercar yet from a company known for pushing the limits of road legality.
  • The Sadair's Spear builds on the Jesko Attack with more power, less weight, and improved aerodynamics.
  • Only 30 examples will be made, and as these things typically go, each has already been sold.
Koenigsegg continues to push the envelope for how extreme a car can be while maintaining legal status on the roads. The 1578-hp Jesko Attack was already stretching that envelope to the extremes, but that didn't stop Christian von Koenigsegg and team from leveling things up even further.

The new Sadair's Spear builds on the Jesko Attack by removing weight, adding downforce, and adding power—turning what was already a track monster into a creation designed to raze lap times and redefine your perception of speed. To prove it, Koenigsegg set the Sadair's Spear to dethrone the Jesko Attack's lap record on the Gotland Ring—which it did by 1.1 seconds . . . during its initial shakedown laps.

Christian von Koenigsegg, the founder and CEO of Koenigsegg, named the Jesko for his father as an 80th birthday present and a "thank you" for his help with the company. Turns out Jesko was a keen jockey in his younger years, and the horse he rode in his final race was named Sadair's Spear.

Back to the actual car—the powertrain is familiar enough, that is, if you're familiar with the Jesko's 5.0-liter twin-turbocharged V-8 and its nine-speed Lightspeed transmission. With no flywheel slowing it down, the V-8 revs to its 8500 rpm in 0.2 second. Revised engine calibration, new air intakes, and improved cooling mean Koenigsegg was able to increase output by 25 horsepower. That means the Sadair's Spear spits out a whopping 1282 horsepower on regular unleaded gasoline, and an astronomical 1602 horsepower on E85.

Upgrades to the aero package make themselves known with an active top-mounted double-blade rear wing. Following extensive work by Koenigsegg's CFD team, the automaker extended the rear of the car for enhanced airflow. Expanded front canards, louvers, and reengineered hood vents, along with a new Gurney flap, also help with cooling performance.

If all that isn't enough, the tires are wider for increased grip, and the carbon ceramic brakes come with upgraded pad materials. The suspension is upgraded too, with Triplex dampers and lighter springs which, together with other lightweighting techniques, combine to shed more than 77 pounds.

Koenigsegg is limiting the Sadair's Spear to just 30 units—all of which sold out instantly despite a purchase price north of $5 million.

The last comments from CvK on Carwow video are interesting. It sounds like CvK is doing a Reagera successor and aims to send this to Silverstone and Spa for record attempts.
This is a very nice tribute to One:1 as well.

Sadair's Spear takes revenge on Czinger (48.83s) with the fastest production lap time on the hill (if we don't count IVA'd P1 LM).
BTW, I'm not 100% sure, but I think the infographics got the name wrong and it was Markus Lundh driving.

This guy clocked Sadair's Spear on Laguna Seca at just 1:25.79, despite the team mounting a set of wheels with Trofeo RS. I guess the lap record stays home for now.
