Regera Koenigsegg Regera Unveiled - 1,341hp

The Koenigsegg Regera is a limited production, plug-in hybrid grand touring sports car manufactured by Swedish automotive manufacturer Koenigsegg. It was unveiled at the March 2015 Geneva Motor Show. The name Regera is a Swedish verb, meaning "to reign" or "to rule". Koenigsegg produced 85 Regeras, most of which were sold upon unveiling.

Koenigsegg’s bespoke dry-sump twin turbo, DOHC 5.0 litre V8 provides the bulk of the power. In the Regera it produces 1,100 bhp running on regular petrol. It is coupled to three YASA developed electric motors, one for each rear wheel (260 Nm’s each) and one at the crankshaft (300 Nm’s) providing torque vectoring, regenerative breaking and torque fill. The motor also fulfils the starter motor function.

Bespoke engine that's pulling someone's tit a little, it's architecture still based on the Ford 4.6l modular V8 block. There's a reason why they have never upped the capacity, the Ford block they originally used and now copy has tight bore centres and is capacity limited to about 5.4 litres.

I'm not in the position to fault it, so I can't say they need to change it. Plus, change is only good if it's for the better.

Maybe its me seeeing the same basic shape in every release, despite claims of being an "all-new" model.

That being said, I recall the Agera R monocoque having a torsional rigidity of 65,000 Nm/degree and a weight of 70-80kg, which is amazing considering it has a removal top. So I concur that we are in no position to say whether or not they need an all new monocoque.

The big trade-off (not that the opinion of someone who won't own one matters) is that the wide sill and door mechanism effects interior space, rather, lack there of from my experience of sitting in an Agera R last year.

I agree. The tub works as a coupe and a convertible. The only drackback is that the door shape hasn't changed but don't think is discredits the amazingly refreshing design.

The car looks horrible and you will realize this soon enough ;)

Here's a little snippet from fchat: In production form, the Regera will be able to do 300-0 km/h in 5 seconds. Think about that.

Apparently it is also faster than an F1 car.

  • 0 to 100 km/h (62 mph): 1.7 seconds
  • 0 to 200 km/h (124 mph): 3.8 seconds
  • 0 to 300 km/h (186 mph): 8.6 seconds*
