Z Series Jeremy Clarkson does it again: BMW Z4M Coupe

The BMW Z models are a line of roadsters manufactured by German automaker BMW. The Z stands for Zukunft (German for future), and has been produced in four different series with six generations consisting of roadster, coupé, sports car, and concept variants. The introduction of the M Coupé and M Roadster in the Z3 line marked the first of the Z series to have a high-performance BMW M variant. The first generation Z4 also continued to offer M Coupé and M Roadster variants. The current Z4 (G29) uses BMW's (B58B30) inline-six, its platform is the basis for the current Toyota Supra.

- "appears to have been styled by someone who wasn't concentrating."
- "just plain, like a supermarket checkout girl."
- "If you want this sort of car, the Porsche Gayman is an obvious rival," he writes.
- "It goes harder but is deeply embarrassing to be seen in. So what I'd do is buy the soft-top Z4 M instead. "

Only Jeremy Clarkson would compare a BMW Z4M Coupe or a Porsche Gayman to an earth digger :t-rot: . I like the way he writes his columns... Don't get upset about it, you know who it comes from ;)

I think the guy is hilarious. He doesn't take himself (or, well, anything) too seriously and doesn't mind making a fool of himself if need be.

I won't argue with anyone who says that the Cayman is better looking. I think both cars are great looking. But to say that the Z4 M Coupe is ugly is absurd. :t-crazy2:

Exactly what i think about him, too!
Other than that, i don't take myself too seriously, either!
That's why i like him! He has humor. I read his articles more for fun, than for real information or even education!

Classic Clarkson, and these types of articles are why I love him!

It has nothing to do with the truth in my mind, just makes a great read!

I share the same exact feeling as you. I love reading what he writes not because it's the best there is but because it IS the best there is. Other journalists always just write about the obvious like "handles great", "looks good" and other crap and then there is Clarkson with "just plain, like a supermarket checkout girl."

Freakin love it.

The car on the other hand looks good, but honestly since I haven't seen it in person, I'll still say the Gayman (:D) looks better.

I was talking about its on road performance which is forgiveable as its tuned for the track and not the road, even though most owners will probably never/hardly track it.

I like plenty of BMW's though, I like the M-tech 5er, M5, M6 and the 3er drop top in that sneak preview/spy pic.

The Z4 is just really ugly though.

You have weird tastes. There were some very nice bmws older than 1996.

some yes but not many. My affection to BMW really started with E46 and E39 and E36.

You know - to guys like us - Jeremy Clarkson is very much like Pat Robertson. Both of these guys aren't terribly important, yet we love to pay attention and get really worked up when they make lunatic comments.

I'd also liken Jeremy to Ann Coulter in the sense that his career is predicated on being an obtuse firebrand. He's the original tabloid-motorjournalist who carries the pretensions of somebody worth listening to.
