X5 timesonline: Jeremy Clarkson on the BMW X5

The BMW X5 is a mid-size luxury crossover SUV produced by BMW. The X5 made its debut in 1999 as the E53 model. It was BMW's first SUV. BMW marketed the X5 officially as a "Sports Activity Vehicle" (SAV), rather than an SUV, to indicate its on-road handling capability despite its large dimensions.
In all fairness JC talks alot of shit..
But this car is even crap seen from BMW fans eyes..
As it is a insult to what the M badge used to be..
M is going AMG..

I love AMG.. so i dont mind this car for what it is..
But i just dont find it handsome..the normal X5 looks better:)

No one @ BMW AG really listen to what Jeremy Clarkson thinks.

I don't think anybody with an ounce of intelligence listens to what Jeremy Clarkson says.

What is really surprising is that they still insist on the "Britishness" of the Range Rover but always fail to mention it's Conceivement under BMW, development under BMW , designed under BMW , engineered under BMW history that made the car what it is today.

Have I missed something? Where does JC mention the "Britishness" of the Range Rover in this article?

Some people (I'm not talking about Scott here specifically) just cannot accept that something other than a BMW is preferred. It's really quite nauseating. Certain people are really putting me off BMW, and that is quite disturbing for me, a life long BMW fanatic. I find I'm playing devil's advocate constantly just to provide some kind of reasonable balance.

I'm not SUV M fan but if Mercedes, Porsche have performance SUV's of course BMW should have it as well. Even though its just as pointless as 500 hp sportscar.

I find this quite disrespectful and you better backup your retarded claim.

Oh shut up you. I did in the other post.
There nothing retarded about the fact that Indians cannot make cars. Koreans and Americans can't either. A shame you can't seem to handle that little fact, and you have to resort to cheap name calling.
Either way, you're off my PS3 buddy list because I really don't like you anymore. And I should file an official complaint against you.

Nobody is forcing you to be here. Just go away if certain members (I'm sure I'm one of them) are making you sick. There's plenty of other car forums on the net.
Posts like these don't add anything whatsoever. People are not going to change because you want them to, and I personally think there's a nice balance here on germancarforum.com

Edit;
this is what happens if a mod like Martinbo starts making things personal. Lot's of attacks happen afterwards. Thanks Martin!

Yes, klier - I was directing my comments at you personally. It seems you have a knack for bringing it upon yourself these days.

I'm not the only one that is offended by the way you're conducting yourself here lately.

Oh, and you spraying bullets around with rubbish like this:

Please, grow up. You inflamed the situation with your blatant prejudices and preconceptions. Trust me, I could've gotten much, much more personal with your childish conduct of late.

I'm done sticking up for you.

this is nice.

btw, not accepting a simple fact like "top gear loving the brittishness of the RR" is far from offering a reasonable balance, no matter who says it. Top Gear is lovely show, adore it to bits, but they don't have to speak out their prejudices word by word in every article for me to know they have them. This is not a one-of thing.

There will be no calling of names on my watch. NarutoRamen and klier - you two will have to settle things like this via PM if you cannot keep it clean. Capisci?

Both of you, point to me where the hell I called Klier anything. I said what Klier said was retarded, not he is retarded. You both need to brush up on your reading comprehension before you start stupid shit with me.

Either way, you're off my PS3 buddy list because I really don't like you anymore. And I should file an official complaint against you.

Boo Effing hoo...Oh NOEZ I'm not teh Klierz PS3 Buddy list...how iz I'm gonna live nowz?

:D

We know who started this nonsense and he was dead wrong, lets move on now.

The X5 is a great SUV, but I think the current and certainly the next Cayenne, will be that much better! And it does matter how they handle, they target the same audience. Sporty handling and performance with SUV utility/practicality.

Why is this so hard for some to acknowledge?:t-hands:

Demand is great here in UAE for X5/X6Ms ... I think there is a long waiting list. I heard minor complains about the looks not very distinctive from ordinary model.

I think you need to brush up on your manners, just a tad. By now you should know that it is not OK to call someone's claims retarded.

And, again, use PM for this type of business, no need to sully the threads.

to be honest, Klier is attacked here in a manner which is unfair. Although the words chosen are a bit direct and harsh ( but hey, who am I to say that :D ) I get his point. not to be disrespectful, but tata's trackrecord on cars isn't really up there. Is it that wrong to be a bit sceptic? If they just finance Land Rover, and leave the car-development to the people Land Rover, yeah, this would be great. Endless money supply and Land Rover know-how is a great combo.

And in all honesty, if Land Rover was taken over by Lada, and Klier said " russians can't make cars", we wouldn't be having these heated debates, because we all know, racisme only goes down the skin-tone scale, which is quite ignorant on its own :t-crazy2:

I like Jeremy as a comedian & his reviews as a humor speech! Was that X5-M a British car & it would've gotten 5/5 possible stars in Clarkson's verdict! :t-crazy2:

I could argue contrary to what you said with proof to back up what I would write...but I'll just leave this argument seeing as this is the BMW thread. Enjoy your powers on this side of the forum. ;)

I don't think so. He made a point of this and the X6 being usless in conditions some might take them in, and these not being as good for everyday stuff as their more normal counterparts. The fact is that Range Rovers and Discorvery or LR4 or whatever, are both good in bad conditions as well as everyday things. Hell even the RR-Sport is good in off roading, of course not as good as a normal Range.

Also, to point out, it's not like he suggest the alternative to this be a freaking RR-Sport or something. He suggest a diesel RR...functionality over POWAH!!
