Jaguar C-X75

I forgot JLR is the only one to do a concept car, say it'll go into production, and renege on their word. I mean, NOOOO other car company has done that before.

Like the Audi E- TRON, is incredible how complicated the cost efective/electric powertrains would be, to the point that green ligth vehicles are canceled because they can not decipher key things that go beyond we can imagine ....

Perhaps Jaguar should let potential customers to view and test drive these prototypes before cancelling the project.

the weird thing is that they canned the project AFTER they were bought by tata which could give them enough money to fund the project

looking at the specs this car would've been in direct competition with the 918 (power, weight, horsepower and torque)

Jaguar registers EV-Type trademark
Registered in Europe and United States

Jaguar has made the necessary legal actions to register the "EV-Type" moniker in Europe and United States.

Other details are not available at this point but chances are Jaguar is planning an electric version of the F-Type. It could have something to do with the C-X75 and C-X16 concepts from previous years but the two of them both had hybrid powertrains.

The C-X75 concept was originally unveiled at the 2010 Paris Motor Show with four 198 HP electric motors and two small turbine engines able to run on diesel, compressed natural gas, LPG and biofuel. These turbines turned the vehicle into a hybrid to extend the range beyond the 68 miles (109 km) offered by the batteries.

At that moment Jaguar said the C-X75 needed 3.4 seconds to cover the 0-62 mph (0-100 km/h) sprint and 5.5 seconds for the 0-100 mph (0-161 km/h) journey before topping out at 205 mph (333 km/h).

As for the C-X16 concept, this one premiered at the 2011 Frankfurt Motor Show with a 50:50 weight distribution and a more conventional hybrid setup consisting of a 380 HP 3.0-liter V6 and a 95 HP electric motor. Power was channeled to the rear wheels via an eight-speed gearbox granting the vehicle with a 0-62 mph run in 4.4 seconds and a 186 mph (300 km/h) top speed.

Since Jaguar just trademarked the "EV-Type" name, don’t expect a car with this designation to come out in the near future.

Jaguar C-X75 to star in upcoming James Bond film Spectre as villain’s car
Cancelled 850bhp hybrid Jaguar supercar appears set to make its on-screen debut in new Bond film as the anti-hero to the Aston Martin DB10

The Jaguar C-X75, a cancelled million-pound 850bhp hybrid supercar project, is set to star in the upcoming James Bond film Spectre.

Individuals involved with the project have reported on the ongoing engineering works to the car, which are designed to make it suitable for filming use.

Autocar understands that for production purposes the C-X75 will be fitted with Jaguar's supercharged 5.0-litre V8, instead of using its existing hybrid powertrain.

It is also rumoured that the C-X75 will be driven by the film's villain. Such a role in the 24th Bond film ties in neatly with Jaguar's "Good to be Bad" campaign, which heralded the launch of the new F-type coupé and showcased British actors playing villains.

Jaguar officials would not confirm which cars are involved in the film at this stage but did not directly counter the reports of the C-X75's involvement, instead simply indicating that any official announcements will be made in 2015.

It would not be the first time that Bond's enemies have driven Jaguars; for example, in the 2006 version of Casino Royale, both the XJ8 and XJR make appearances as the automotive anti-heroes.

A Jaguar XKR also starred prominently in 2002's Die Another Day, battling Bond's Aston Martin Vanquish.

The hero car of the film, driven by James Bond, will be the recently revealed Aston Martin DB10. Aston Martin itself has been using the hashtag "Good to be Bond" on Twitter, imitating the official Jaguar line and further indicating the brand's involvement with the upcoming film.

Good for Jaguar. It is currently the sexiest brand in the automobile industry and having this car featured in the movie will upstage the Aston Martin DB10.

It's freaking ridiculous, not only they ship this canceled car to journalists to test drive it but they also pay fortunes t market it Hollywood, how desperate is that ?

damn I wish they had built this car, I thought it was the most innovative and best looking of all the current generation of hypercars.

As for using it in the movie why not, plenty of manufacturers have placed prototypes and show cars in movies, vehicles which never made it into production, it's nothing new, it's about getting brand recognition.

What do you think the bond villain should drive then?

Prototypes is one thing, cancelled car is another.

I think the car was always a prototype. With a gas turbine, the car never was going to production. Funny bit is they blamed the cancelation on "slowing global economy"... in 2012!

I thought this was the production form of this

But i see where you are getting at.

What do you think the bond villain should drive then?
Well some production car that's really going to sell or a prototype that was always a prototype only. A cancelled car means a a direction that the manufacturer deemed invalid and not in line with his vision anymore.

It is probably inline with the vision of the manufacturer but they cannot afford to put such a car in production yet.

I don't think they ever took deposits for it. I do think they should revisit it and think seriously about releasing it, it is a stunning looking car.

FYI the ones used in the film ran with V8's rather than the 4 cylinder engine.
