International Engine of the Year Awards 2007

I knew it:D

How many years in a row have BMW won this now?:D

2 i think including this year. I think the 5.0L V10 won it last year, but the MB V12 Biturbo won it in 2005, if my memmories are correct.

what is the judging criteria for this award?

SCORING
In every category, the panelists judged each shortlisted engine using their subjective driving impressions and technical knowledge, and took into account characteristics such as fuel economy, noise, smoothness, performance and driveability. The jurors each had 25 points to spend on their five favourite engines in each class. The maximum points that could be allocated to one engine was restricted to 15, while the minimum reward was one mark. An engine could not be tied for the top slot.

INTERNATIONAL ENGINE OF THE YEAR 2007

:t-cheers:

International Engine of the Year 2001: BMW 3.2-litre
International Engine of the Year 2002: BMW 4.4-litre Valvetronic
International Engine of the Year 2005: BMW 5-litre V10 (M5, M6)
International Engine of the Year 2006: BMW 5-litre V10
International Engine of the Year 2007: BMW 3-liter twin-turbo (335i)

So its 3 in a row

5 awards for BMW in "International Engine of the Year" but there are 11 other categories as well to count in. If we add them too BMW has won a lot more awards than those 5.

They basically won everything :D

Bayerische Motoren Werke, they still live up to their name :usa7uh:

ENGINE is BMW's middle name.....how cool is that?????

Yeah, already 7 won in 2007

Well done BMW, who seem to rule at engines!!!

Wonder what's going to win next year, is it going to be the new V8 from the M3??:D

2008 will be very interesting too:

New M3 engine (probably overall Engine of the Year 2008)
New 2.0 TT diesel (204 hp)

New V8/V8 turbo????
New V12????
Inline 4 Turbo????

Remember my comment from a year ago?

Re: Edmunds: BMW 5-Liter V10 Wins International Engine of the Year

That was expected.

Next year BMW are going to win again: with N54 3.0L I6 HPI bi-turbo. :usa7uh:

And then with V8 from M3 ...

And then ...

:D

:usa7uh:

And press release for 335i coupe was just issued then - few week before (on April 21st).

BMW - great engines since the 1930s.
or
BMW - 7 and 1/2 decades or motor excellence.
or
BMW - motor excellence was, is and will always be expected.

:D :D :D

I want to know how big BMW's "BRIBING BUDGET" is.
