Jestem z Warszawy ;)
I was born in Poland, in Warsaw and lived there until i was 10. Then I moved with my family to Sweden.
And you?

I was born in Lublin, but we fled to Germany when I was 4, then came to Canada when I was 6.

I am tunisian and i have also problems to understand algerians and specialy maroccans :D

Moroccans are very hard to understand. I have plenty of Moroccan friends and when they talk with each other, I feel left out. But I think it sounds funny when they talk and I’m always learning new words from them (mostly bad LOL)

My favorite Arabic dialect is Palestinian, Jordanian, Lebanese and others in that part of the Middle East. Egyptians are very easy to understand ‘cause they're on TV and movies all the time.

BTW, I speak Arabic (native tongue) and English.

السلام عليكم شباب

Hindi
Punjabi
Urduu

I've been told that Russia and Japanese are the two hardest languages to learn.

My brother is going to move to Japan in a few years, poor him!

Fluent Arabic, English, Indian
Basic Persian, French, Spanish

I'd Love to learn Japanese! lol

English and Punjabi...i guess i know hindi but don't like to speak it so i left it off, and my french has died

Fluent Finnish and English.
Basic Swedish and French.
And some Italian.

(I also understand some words in Spanish, German and Japanese)

Apart from my native language, and english ofcourse,
I can understand and even read-speak to some degree italian and spanish.
Also my german seems to be sliping and I can also understand french.

I have a better question:

Is there anyone in here that doesn't speak/understand to some degree other languages that english and his native language ?!

Swedish(duh), Italian, English and some Spanish and German. And if I put a potato in my mouth I can speak Dansih too. And I understand Norwegian as well.

I chose 'four': Dutch (mother tongue), French (read/write/speak), English (read/write/speak) and German (reading; writing and speaking this language is more difficult since I don't practice it regularly).

If I may, I add something to this "old" thread. In my young age I learned three languages Polish, Russian, Latin and German, after migration to Canada when I was 31, I learned French, English and Spanish. It was hard but now i'm happy. I can be a GCF member.:t-cheers:

Wow! That's mighty impressive. I can take at most 3 languages only, otherwise I'll go crazy. :D

Why latin ?

Why latin ?
Latin - although it is a 'dead' language - is taught in secondary school in Belgium, as it is the predecessor of many roman languages (like French, Italian, Spanish, ...). A lot of words in medical science, biology, politics and other sciences are derived from Latin, so I think it is useful to have a basic knowledge of Latin (the same is true for ancient Greek). But we were only taught to read and write Latin, as speaking it is rather difficult and less useful of course. Moreover, you start reading documents from Cicero, Pliny the Younger (description of the eruption of Mount Vesuvius, which devastated Pompeii), ... very interesting if you are interested in languages, like me at that time :)

I think Bartek studied Latin for the same reason, am I right???

Shonguiz, I don't know where you're from, but is it possible in your country to study Latin?
