A 1966 Ferrari 275 GTB is the new record for vehicles sold online!
A 1966 Ferrari 275 GTB has dethroned what until now held the record for the most expensive vehicle sold in an online auction, an almost brand-new Ferrari Enzo that was sold a couple of months ago for $ 2.64 million.
When it comes to absolute auction records, it is impossible not to mention the Maranello signature models. These practically monopolize the highest positions in the table of the most expensive vehicles sold at auction, starting with two magnificent examples of the Ferrari 250 GTO that were auctioned in 2014 and 2018 for 38.11 and 48.40 million dollars, respectively.

However, these models were sold in a face-to-face auction, so there is a lesser-known ranking of the most expensive models in history, those that were sold in online auctions and whose first place belongs, how could it be otherwise, to another classic Ferrari.
Until now the record was in possession of a specimen that was practically brand new of the Ferrari Enzo. A unit that was auctioned last June during an RM Sotheby’s event. This magnificent unit of the Italian sports car was not only in perfect condition, it was practically brand new, with only 1,250 miles of use, which is equivalent to just over 2,000 kilometers. This was sold for 2.64 million dollars.

The record was short-lived for this Enzo unit, as this week ended an online event at the auction house Gooding & Company in which a precious and rare example of the 1966 Ferrari 275 GTB 'Long nose' fetched a spectacular 3.08 million dollars, becoming the new holder of the title.
This example of the Ferrari 275 GTB is quite special because despite its advanced age it has its configuration and original elements, so it is as it left the Italian factory more than 50 years ago. This includes the rare white body color option in combination with the beige leather interior, a configuration rarely seen on surviving copies of the model. This unit was originally sold in Italy, although it was soon moved to the United States, where it has remained for decades.

I know the electric car is very much the near future (or even the now), but I don't think I'll have that visceral connection with a bunch of screens and CPUs on wheels whereas I were to have with something as mechanical as this. Or an old Alfa or BMW coupe.

Sigh. :singing::ninja:
