X7 [Hot!] 2023 BMW X7 FACELIFT

The BMW X7 is a full-size luxury crossover sport utility vehicle manufactured by BMW. It is BMW's largest and second most expensive SUV in its line-up. The X7 was first announced by BMW in March 2014. It was officially unveiled on October 17, 2018, with pre-orders being taken online. The X7 has been available at dealers since March 2019.
Kia is doing a good job of offering some upscale cues at a lower price. It's pretty remarkable how they drew some similarities with BMW's design. You can't even really accuse them of copying because they came out at the same time. The BMW, of course, is of higher quality.

Does anyone feel that the lower headlight unit would look better without the dark tint?

That's the only thing I'm unsure of right now.

The BMW is light years ahead in interior design and quality.
The only element I like better in the Kia is the tapered edges on the screen.

As it should, a base Telluride is just under half the price of a X5 in the U.S. I was just saying Kia did a good job bringing some nice finishes to the mainstream market.

Unfortunately it’s a color specific LCI. Lighter colors look a bit weird, darker ones are much better

That was a rhetorical response from me.
My focus is on the screen in the BMW in comparison. The sharp edges look like it is glued to the dashboard.

Think so as well the darker tint doesn’t hide them as I would have liked …the X7 will definitely look the best in black.

A totally new dashboard is totally unexpected for me, surprise

So the dashboard with the big wood inlay I wished for the i4 (like the concept had) found its way into the X7. Looks great!

I'm surprised so many people are surprised by this interior. It was well-known that it was coming, and the X5 will get this next year, as will the 3er and M3 LCI in July this year. All BMWs are moving to this design. I don't like the design particularly, but what is really unforgivable is the removable of shortcut buttons and climate buttons, so now I have to make many more inputs to do something which previously took just one press of a button. They're losing me as a customer as it just not something I want.

Some pop-up/slide covers/lids for the lights in the same body colour would have worked to hide the lights when not in use, but I guess some stupid legislation wouldn’t have approved.

Not so much legislation, just that it's a ludicrous idea. It would have been ridiculously over-engineered and not cost effective.

There is a short key button for the HVAC in the middle of the screen improving direct control.
There might also be other basic short key buttons. This screen layout appears to be improved slightly from the Electric IX.
Basically most top-end luxury cars are moving away from the button layout. Most everything is controlled through the screen which cleans up the dash.

This is an unfortunate move. I have AC control through touchscreen on my new car and each time I need to interact with it, this is a pain in the ass. I don't mind buttons on a dashboard, in fact, I love them, it is easier and faster to use !

The only reason they are moving away from the button layout is saving money. We have many examples of buttons nicely integrated in the interior design.

That picture tells everything, BMW was close to design something right finally.

If Hyundai can design it and bring it into real life in Genesis, there are no excuses for BMW.
Having thought about it, I think that the LCI redesign is the for the US and Chinese markets that have 7 seater SUV with bling packed front-ends. It will be interesting to see whether the X5 LCI is a bit toned down.

I've sat and had a play in an iX and it's a big step backwards in functionality. Maybe you're right and they've improved the X7 LCI slightly compared to the iX, but compared to my 3er Touring, functions which take one press of a physical button, take at least two steps now, and on a touchscreen. The 1-8 "favourites" buttons which I use ALL the time and are situated in a perfect position on the dashboard, are now at the top of the iDrive screen, and to reveal them you have to pull down from the top of the screen OR push the iDrive controller "up", and then turn the dial to select the function you want. So that's three steps when right now I can just do one step and press the phycial button and get what I want instantly on the screen.

Also, my wife puts on her heated seat whenever she gets in the 3er, no matter the temperature. Right now it's easy. She pushes ONE physical button of which she knows its location in the car. With this new iDrive 8, she'll have to first of all find the correct sub-menu on the iDrive, which she'll find difficult as she doesn't drive much, and then use her fingers to touch the screen which she knows I don't like. And that's assuming I'm not already using the screen for what I want to do like put a sat nav destination in. What happens if she forgets at the start of the journey and has to start messing around while I'm navigating somewhere? The passenger shouldn't be going anywhere near a screen that the driver is using. Accessing the only touchscreen in the car to do something simple like turn on the heated seats is as ridiculous as turning on your house lights via the TV. A light switch is simple and works perfectly, as does a heated seat button.

A car is not a phone. BMW should remind themselves of that fact. Other manufacturers are moving to touchscreens, but they're nowhere near as "phone-like" as BMW.

Cleaned-up dash, but a dirty screen full of fingerprints. I don't know who's asking for this wholesale move to a touchscreen. I drove a Taycan yesterday, and despite having several touchscreens, the important functions were always easily and readily available.

I would appreciate it if a mod can delete the image and not repost. It was an oversight since we did not see the image in the background before posting.
