They should have offered this from the get go. Too many missteps to reach this point. This approach of leaving the best possible version towards the end of the model cycle just doesn't do it (at least for me). Don't get me wrong, I like what M division did with this car, but many aspects of it look outdated from 10 years ago already.

The people that can afford this car would probably rather have a 991.2 anyway. BMW has done a great job of making the car look super aggressive.

Exactly. It’s still a great looking car but we are 6-7 months away from a new M4/M3.

Colour combo is a disaster, gaudy, tacky, I could go on. At least black and white are still available. Looking forward to what really counts, driving reviews and getting behind the wheel.

In some ways I wish I'd kept my deposit down but I suspect it will be out of my price range and difficult to get hold of, even being on a list.

Trouble is, it's already starting to look dated, especially inside despite all the lipstick on it.

So many mixed feelings about this swansong model for the M2 which is surely what this is, should the M3/M4 CS models be anything to judge by.

Pros:
There's nothing else like it on the market - Front engined 6 cylinder, RWD, compact 2 dour, manual or DCT options, slippy diff, big brakes and so on
Exclusivity - it'll end up being a collectible, something special and a marker for cars of its era
Looks - Fundamentally, it does look good because of what it is

Cons:
Expensive - Initial value for money is questionable if the M3/4 CS models are anything to go by; you'd have to be a dedicated M fan to buy one of these new, given what else could be had for the same money off a second-hand lot
Dated - there's no denying that as good as it does look, there are elements of over-familiarity both in and out
Initial depreciation - let's be honest here, if you and your M2 CS don't vibe with each other then get ready to take a bath on trade-in time

My favorite M car. I have this over a Cayman.
Each to their own but given what I expect this to be priced at in my market, I'd rather have a Cayman GT4.
Moreover, for the same as the anticipated price of an M2 CS, I could choose from a plethora of 991.2 GTS with very low mileage in mint condition. For me personally, it's a no-brainer.

It's fantastic, the best current M for me. But the problem is the price. Same money as Cayman GT4.

You can't only own one car and use it for everything else. If you own a Cayman you need another car with practicality and space. Too expensive to own both a Cayman and M5 ;) In an ideal world I'm filthy rich and can afford several cars but I'm not.

M2 is better suited for my needs. I can transport my girlfriend and her son and go shopping at the same time. Also enjoy road trips with your family. But still enjoy some track days and having some fun. But you can't have fun all the time, so own one car and M2 CS is perfect to me. Just wish it had backdoors.

But on a second thought why do I want a M2 CS or Cayman when there is Fiesta ST, you can't have more fun with car like the great ST :D

Sorry, but maybe I see things differently. I couldn't possibly buy a car like an M2 CS (or a second hand 911 for that matter) as my one and only daily driver.
I know that I am the old, fuddy-duddy exception to the rule but cars like the GT4 and M2 CS are too special to put 20 000 km a year on.
I'm also smart enough to realise that things specific to where I live aren't necessarily applicable elsewhere. We don't have a good public transport system down here; we use our cars for getting to work and - in my case - for business travel too.
I travel at least 52 km a day, very often twice that and I would never do that kind of injustice to a special car like an M2 CS. [Or even M2 Comp for that matter]. There are a myriad of reasons why I wouldn't.
In my opinion, if you can afford an M2 CS then you should actually be able to own two cars - one for practical considerations and the M2 CS (or whatever else) for occasional use.

In short. Sportscars are useless to own if you don't use them properly and that is on a track. People are too unexperienced to use the fully potential or normal roads. F.. sportscar and get yourself a BMW 320d or something similar and use it as its built to be used. Sportscars are just for bragging rights and show off. Pointless cars for average joe.

BMW M

BMW M GmbH, formerly known as BMW Motorsport GmbH, is a subsidiary of BMW AG that manufactures high-performance luxury cars. BMW M ("M" for "motorsport") was initially created to facilitate BMW's racing program, which was very successful in the 1960s and 1970s. As time passed, BMW M began to supplement BMW's vehicle portfolio with specially modified higher trim models, for which they are now most known by the general public. These M-badged cars traditionally include modified engines, transmissions, suspensions, interior trims, aerodynamics, and exterior modifications to set them apart from their counterparts. All M models are tested and tuned at BMW's private facility at the Nürburgring racing circuit in Germany.
