A-Class [Hot!] 2018 Mercedes-Benz A-Class Sedan concept


The Mercedes-Benz A-Class is a car manufactured by Mercedes-Benz. It has been marketed across generations as a front-engine, front-wheel drive, five-passenger, five-door hatchback, with a three-door hatchback offered for the second generation, as well as a saloon version for the fourth.
Guys, if I am not mistaken, the first MB to feature the current design language was the CLA. Am I correct to assume that this concept previews what is to come with MB's designs?
 
I actually am liking this concept more after seeing the premiere at the show of this stunning silver car which looks awesome much better than the red one.

Mercedes hints at new styling with sedan concept

Crossovers and SUVs might be selling in droves from China to the U.S., but Mercedes-Benz is still experimenting with cars, as seen with the Concept A Sedan at the Shanghai auto show in April. Mercedes says the concept hints at another model in its compact car lineup and previews a new design language for the brand. Here’s what some journalists are saying about the Mercedes-Benz Concept A Sedan:

“The Concept A Sedan looks closest to the CLA-Class, thanks to its sedan body and coupe-like rear end. The original CLA is pretty angular, but this concept takes it to another level with significantly more straight lines in the lighting structures. Yet, at the same time, it's smoother than other models, with a reduction in the number of visible creases across the body.

“Its thin headlights and low hood remind me of the AMG GT Concept sedan, which is not a bad thing at all. It probably won't pack 800 horsepower like the super-sedan concept, but hey, small cars require some sacrifice.”

“Overall, the strength of this concept lies in the very satisfying proportions. It feels similar, proportionally, to other well-designed small cars from companies like Alfa Romeo, or even some of Mercedes’ own ’60s-era prototypes. The sharklike nose and bobtail rear give a subtle forward thrust to the Concept A, accentuated by stern-looking triangular headlamps with a glowing internal lattice structure that almost certainly won’t make it to production.”

“It’s a windswept design, cutting as many unnecessary angles and sharp surfaces out as possible. Even the door handles are recessed, much like those on Teslas. The lower front valence is a unique exaggerated piece, giving the side profile a dropped-off point toward the beltline. Fenders are flared slightly, filled by large 20-inch chrome wheels, and overhangs are particularly short, especially in the rear. In contrast, the hood remains relatively long, giving the small concept a GT-like stance.”

I don't see the need for two compact 4-Dr models either, I am counting on the A Saloon looking better than the CLA..
 
With the introduction of the sedan, I think the next CLA will have a more coupe orientated design, leaving a bigger differentiation between the two.

It currently plays two jobs, and with an A coupe having little probability, the CLA can be a true coupe with two extra doors, rather than the fugly compromised sedan it is now.

I'm not sure how much more coupe-like they can make it. It's a small FWD car and the swooping roof line is a signature piece. Hard to make all of that come together on a small car.
 
Agreed the CLA is already very heavily Coupe-styled, therefore most likely they would have to carry on with the same theme.
 
I think they need to drop the CLA nomenclature.
Have the A sedan. A hatchback. GLA, crossover.

Yeah I was thinking that too, but I think Mercedes is going to keep the CLA for what it is, a Coupe version of the A sedan. I still think the CLS will re-named CLE and that clears the way for the next generation S-Class 4-door coupe to be the true CLS. I think we'll also get a CLC next time too for the C-Class.

I have my fingers cross the CLS becomes the CLE and we get a true CLS. But with the advent of the AMG 4 door coupe, I am less confident.

A 4 door coupe C-class is desperately needed. I can't believe they didn't plug this gap this generation. Only explanation I can come to is production capacity.

I am looking forward to the CLC or the A class sedan if they ever come to the U.S.

Really looking forward for this one, it should be a better attempt at the compact saloon than the CLA..its turning out to be a cute little MB saloon.

EDIT: Just noticed that huge front overhang..ouch:cry:, had my hopes up after seeing the svelt concept A Sedan but it wasn't to be..
 
not bad looking for a small sedan.
BUT small sedans never look good, the normal A-Klasse will look much better. That interior ist just hideous when you don't order the big screens...
 
Looks nice will be smallest Mercedes 4 door ever I think.Reminds me a bit the first time I saw the 190.

Well we know if you buy one just make sure u buy with the full digital screen which looks very good and the other one sadly I can say the opposite.
 
I like what I am seeing so far, this small Mercedes saloon is looking good and will be more attractive than the CLA for sure.

I really hope the final interior will not look like that with cheap black plastic air vents and surround. The ventilation controls below also look out of place floating on their own underneath the dash.
