It’s finally here. Now, and for the next two weeks, the only place you can find out what the GMA T.50 is like to drive is in @topgear magazine. I spent four days driving it 900 miles across the Pyrenees. We’ve given it an unprecedented 20 pages in the mag. It’s worth it.

"New TG Podcast: across Europe in Gordon Murray's T.50 supercar.

On the latest pod, the team discuss whether the new GMA is the greatest supercar ever built."
Huh, they say it's 963 kg now? 🧐
That's neither the old dry weight (957 kg) nor the revised one (997 kg)...
Props for dipping under 1,000 kg wet again, if that's really the case.

Alot of people saying alot of things.;)

I'll log it here but McLaren’s marketing machine was or is in action and to expect a "breathtaking machine".

I've heard it's a Mclaren 750S with some stripes on it. Time will tell.

Never mind, false alarm. They reiterate the weight as 997 kg on two occasions in the magazine. The 963 on the website was just typo or a lazy editor.

Good stuff: Best Driver's car in the world
Bad stuff: No cupholders!! :bored:

Well, we can't say that Gordon didn't deliver on what he promised! Of course, still waiting for the video and for other reviews to get a more rounded opinion (as TG's relationship with GMA is a bit incestuous), but it's looking pretty good so far...

It has 3 seats, that’s 4 hands that are not holding the wheel, they can hold the cups!

Agree. I don't trust top gear reviews of British cars.

CAN THE GEARBOX LIVE UP TO THAT? CAN IT COPE?
At low speeds and when you’re just cruising about, it can be tricky – the revs die so fast that they’re back at idle by the time the gearlever passes through the centre of its open gate. And that’s despite the throw being very short. So you’ll need to adapt your technique, leave a fraction of throttle on to smooth the shifts.
I wonder how many owners will wish this thing had the IGS paddle-shift transmission instead of the manual.
Not everybody is Dario Franchitti.

Love the look of the rev counter at night, btw.

Has anyone actually seen a footage of a driver rev-matching in T.50? I just watched some instagram video onboards from the recent Navarra track session and even Mr. Franchitti appears to be using auto-blip 🧐

It's interesting that there actually IS rev-matching. In most other videos there is no sign of it, and even the TG review has no mention of it - instead saying that you have to concentrate if you want to shift well.

So I guess it's a switchable feature. Or maybe he is just this good...

Feels like a lot has been omitted from that road test. Now that Top Gear has done their T.50 celebration, we just need a team of autistic journalists from Japan or Germany to do a comprehensive instrumented supertest.

Autistic? Seriously?🤣

That would be quite nice, although I think that for an instrumented test of any kind we will have to wait a bit. Or a lot. Could be a few years.

In the mean time, though, some other reviews where they go more into how the car handles and how the technical side contributes to that, would tie us up nicely. Not sure when those are coming, though.

Lol those autistic journalists from Japan and Germany will probably crash the car before even putting their test gear on the car.

But if its a very clever Japanese tester then they will get a test in like this McLaren F1.:D
