GMA Gordon Murray Special Vehicles

Gordon Murray Automotive (GMA) is a British automobile manufacturer of sports cars based in Shalford, Surrey, England. Founded in 2017 by former Formula 1 and McLaren F1 designer Gordon Murray, the company's initial focus is on limited-run hand-built supercars. Its T.50 car entered production in 2023. Ok, how about it’s a blatant imitation of a car designed and manufactured by another company?
Cars aren't designed by companies, they are designed by people. Also Mclaren themselves came out and approved the car.

CEO of Mclaren: “Gordon’s a great guy,” Collins told us. “We spent a lot of time with him. We’ve got a lot of love for Gordon and what the team are doing there, and we love the fact that they’re celebrating McLaren’s heritage. That shows you how strong our heritage is.”

While Murray is not definitely not random dude w.r.t F1, but he was not the exterior designer. That was Peter Stevens.
Gordon was the brains behind the F1, it was his idea that he convinced Ron Dennis and the board to do it, the first sketch that was done in the airport after Senna’s fatal crash was done by Gordon. Stevens was the designer, but Gordon was the father of the F1, without him there is no F1.

I am very aware of origin of the F1 - I do have a copy of the Driving Ambition. Thanks for taking the trouble to repeat some of it here. But I don't see how that counters what I said in my previous post?

I don’t think people appreciate what it means to develop a product for a company whilst under the employ of that company.
The McLaren F1 is the stuff of automotive legend and car fans the world over have nothing but respect for what McLaren achieved with the F1 program led undoubtedly by Gordon Murray. As a South African, I’m a huge admirer of Gordon Murray and take nothing away from his achievements. The F1 is, and always will be, a true icon.

But the F1 does not belong to Gordon Murray. Murray was an employee of McLaren contracted and paid to do a job. His delivery of the F1 and its success does not make the F1 his. It makes it McLaren’s. Put another way, while the F1 is Murray’s legacy, it remains McLaren’s product; a product of McLaren’s investment - not Murray’s.

I have no issue with Murray’s “2nd stab” with T.50 but to so blatantly create a facsimile of another manufacturer’s product solely on the basis of legacy - condoned or not - doesn’t wash with me. But that’s nothing more than my opinion.

?????
Not to be overly pedantic, but Senna passed away in 1994, the McLaren F1 was already in production at that time...
Apologizes got my timeline mixed up, they were leaving Italy after the 1988 Grand Prix and Gordon sketched it. Autocar magazine first tested the car right after Senna’s fatal accident.
