GMA Gordon Murray Special Vehicles

Gordon Murray Automotive (GMA) is a British automobile manufacturer of sports cars based in Shalford, Surrey, England. Founded in 2017 by former Formula 1 and McLaren F1 designer Gordon Murray, the company's initial focus is on limited-run hand-built supercars. Its T.50 car entered production in 2023. Coach building is back baby. We are about to enter an era of custom cars.
Back to the S1 LM (Special vehicle 1, Le Mans) - only five will be built, all going to the same customer who has a healthy obsession (like most of us) with Gordon’s 1995 Le Mans winning F1 GTR, and worked with the GMA team and his own designer to create a road-legal, modern interpretation of his all-time hero. https://www.topgear.com/car-news/fi...turned-meet-gordon-murrays-stunning-new-s1-lm

The S1 LM is a weird one to me. It's not even designed by Gordon Murray and apparently all 5 are going to the same customer. It's a glorified F1 T50-Restomod with a Gordon Murray badge more than anything.

That’s exactly what the customer desired and what some McLaren F1 fans might want. I absolutely love it.

These ultra low volume cars by Bugatti, Gordon Murray, Rolls Royce, Aston Martin or Ferrari will either:
-Take inspiration from the past.
-Carry designs that are not for everyone and basically not on brand.

The blue one is just ugly.
I agree. The wife said just that too - "it's ugly".
The silverish one looks like someone asked AI to render a Mclaren F1.
This for me is even worse because it's a flagrant immitation of what should left as venerable and revered. It's like someone at GMA just can't let go of the F1 and leave it be.
Honestly, it looks like an F1 by Temu. Dreadful.

The rear of the GMSV S1 LM (sheesh) is spectacular and ten times better than the T50 with that stupid fan.
For the rest? Yeah. Ali Baba comes to mind. And that blue car is simply hideous all around.

All that said, I am sure all these GMA cars must be a riot to drive.

I I definitely think I wouldn't quite think about how it looks if I'd sit there behind that steering wheel in the middle 🤩

I agree and that's exactly how I feel about the road-going T.50 - I could care less about its looks, the driving experience can only be unlike anything else out there. Not even close. Which brings me to an idea for a thread topic...

I love the way these look, along side with the T.50 and T.33. It's just pretty shameful that they are only making 5 of the F1 recreation and they are all going to the same buyer. Basically guaranteeing they don't get used.

These are definitely the most interesting cars coming out of Quail 2025.
These highly custom cars are the equivalent of a dream wedding dress for men. It's a fascinating new segment of cars that didn't exist 5-10 years ago. Hyper exclusive and not the type of car that can be rented or leased. Sets you apart from fake billionaires.

Shameful that they’re making a knockoff of one of the greatest cars ever made? That’s more like 5 too many. It’s more like a shameless facsimile of something that doesn’t belong to them. No different to the scores of imitation makers out there who make copies (as opposed to rebuilds) of 911s.

I wonder how Mclaren feel about it. Whether they are annoyed or wish that they made a Mclaren F1 resto mod and sold several at $2-5m each? It would have been an easy cash grab, but they have respectfully not gone down that route.

OT: is the Brunei Royal family still commissioning unique builds? I figure all the hubbub Jefri caused, they were taking a more low-key approach.

As a purely track machine, the Le Mans GTR makes sense to me. Neither machine gives me the tingles, but if I was stupid wealthy, I'd rather track the GTR rather than something like the Bolide or an SCG. That said, even if I was insanely wealthy, it'd feel irresponsible by risking tracking something this expensive.

Hard disagree. Gordon Murray was the main guy behind the F1, he's not imitating anyone other than himself.

And the recreation Countach sucked cause it was all new people that had nothing to do with the original. Gandini actually put out a press release before he passed denouncing any involvement with it and basically hating on it. If he was not so old and they had gotten him involved maybe it could have been something as cool as this F1 recreation.

They are too busy shoving the same 4.0 V8 into everything lol.

Fair enough. This hommage also has a bored out engine with enhancements. It’s a cheap cash grab reskin of a series production car. The CC850 is also a nice remake of an old car. I would love to see a modernised Carrera GT but with traction control and non lethal handling.

I like the S1 SM, it looks stunning. The GTR is not bad either, I think both look better than the slightly boring T50.
