VW Golf GTI W12 Concept: 650Hp & 325km/h!

Looks like the VW GTI meeting Wörthersee 2007 is turning into a major event this year as, apart from the impressive Audi TT clubsport quattro VW presented the "King" of all GTI’s: the Golf GTI W12 Concept. Fitted with a mid-mounted 6.0-liter 12cylinder bi-turbo engine pumping 650Hp @ 6.000 rpm and a maximum torque of 750Nm @ 4.500 rpm., the Golf GTI W12 sprints from 0 to 100 km/h (62mph) in just 3,7 sec while achieving a top speed of 325km/h (202 mph). Despite the extensive modifications that include a lower and broader body than the stock GTI, the addition of several air vents to cool the massive engine and the specially designed roof that plays the role of a diffuser/ spoiler, VW’s concept retains the GTI’s silhouette. However, unlike VW Group's other concept, the TT speedster, the W12 has infinitesimal chances of going into production.

I know the body kit sucks... but the engine transplant is insanely amazing!

Re: VW Golf GTI W12 Concept (650Hp & 325km/h)

I'm actually a bit disappointed they didn't use the W16 from the Veyron. :D

Re: VW Golf GTI W12 Concept (650Hp & 325km/h)

Remind me of X5 Lemans, never went into propduction :(

Re: VW Golf GTI W12 Concept (650Hp & 325km/h)

At least Volkswagen used already available components.

This is no worse than the Saab Aero-X Concept of 2006.

Whether GM spent Billions to create some show car just to divert people's attention on Saab's financial woes.

Well.. Concept's usally cost's a few billions so..
Either way, vw is not of interest, as long as they are not using Audi's money
;)

Those side intakes remind me of the Renault Clio V6

Few billions? You know how much is that?

Yeah, it costs much, but for companies like VW that's absolutely nothing since we speak about one single car.

Simple show off and nothing else.

:t-cheers:

Re: VW Golf GTI W12 Concept (650Hp & 325km/h)

this is what a veyron on a diet would be
not much different in concept and execution
just increasing power meant an increase in weight and the ensuing technical difficulties
