Politics German Politics

As a political junkie that lives in NA, mostly Canada due to family and business I love politics on this side of the pond and also across the pond as well, I am hoping this thread will not be closed as I am following it.
I complain about both US and Canadian politics but my goodness you guys in europe make me feel like an old kvetcher.

I'm quite worried to see how the world will end up end in 10....scratch that... 5 years. It seems like most nations (developed & undeveloped) are on a crash course towards unreversible doom.

Whether it's the politics, potlical correctness, youth culture, infiltration of technology on human interaction, sudden violence/terrorism, or global climate chan...
It may seem like a losing battle, but it makes it more imperative to fight for what I understand as the very important fabric of our societies.

You forgot to add the poison that is religion. Like, all of them.

Damn, we probably not even going to make it to a type 1 civilization on the Kardashev scale. How pathetic.

The only form of "boldness" that I can currently detect in Germanys' executive, legislative and judicial systems is an apparently respective hell-bent mission designed to display weakness and a masochistic desire to be humiliated (see Erdogan visit). A kinky sociopolitical version of sado-maso porn.

Die Verbotspartei (die Grünen) fordern mal wieder was...

The German Green Party wants to limit future German-produced vehicles to 50-horsepower and a top speed of 120 km/h - which will probably never be „exploited“ since they also want to limit the Autobahns to a pathetic snooze-inducing speed of 80 km/h.

And in other news, new EURO 6d diesels may also be soon banned from the cities. No other country in the world does everything in their power to destroy their own industry (and the German car industry produces very competent and good Diesel engines!) and provoke its own citizens into voting for populist and „politicially incorrect“ politicial parties.

Do these guys understand global economics? Do they understand the competitive advantage of German companies?
Do they understand how these companies due to their competitiveness add value to their society?
Just shaking my head.

I was asking myself the same question.

But that’s the nature of the current Green Party in Germany: they’re full of idiots. What scares me is that they’re gaining ground here. I’d rather vote for the CSU/CDU, SPD and FDP than the Greens! And that’s saying something!

In the past these guys fought to help preserve the environment and addressed some social issues. That was what they were know for. That was cool. Protecting the environment is important. Addressing emerging social issues like gay rights? Great, more power to them!

But...

Now they want to invite the entire developing world to come to Germany and live off social benefits (literally), force this whole gender gaga discussion (they claim there are 47 different genders - last time I checked...), ban the internal combustion engine as soon as possible, tax this and that and forbid this and that in the name of whatever... these people have no serious concepts and long-term-plans. They only shoot first and ask questions later.

This is a politicial party which needs to be banned IMO. They are way more dangerous than the AfD, IMO.

With all due respect but posting this in here is really ridiculous to say the least. Actually, I'm starting to get p***ed. a) Reading carefully and checking for sources before sharing are immensely helpful and b) even though I'm not a full-blown German I know that the "Berliner Express" is a satirical page ("Nachrichten aus dem Zentrum der (Ohn)Macht"). At the latest when it's about c**k sizes you should have become suspicious.
It's not the first time that outrageously questionable articles and media are shared in this thread. And this is not trifle given the international audience in here. Some members who don't speak any German will take such b**sh*t as fact ...

Well,Well Bavaria. Another increase for AFD. its interesting on how politicians don't listen to their people expect the result to be in their favour.
But the Greens? I am hearing of an Industrial revolt.

Would love to be a fly on the wall when Seehofer meets Merkel. Not happy despite.

Für die CSU wurde (verdient) a Packerl Watsch'n aufg'rissen.

But still, the very likely coalition with the FW is IMHO the most palatable of all possible scenarios. And while The Greens posted highly impressive gains, their "victory" is a hollow one indeed. They will remain in the parliamentary opposition.

On to the elections in Hessia in a fortnights' time.

CSU probably will form a coalition with the Freie Wähler. But somehow the thought that AFD would be the more appropriate, more natural choice, looking at the party program, everytime crosses my mind.

Busty,

You are correct. I later learned that Berliner Express is a satire page.

But - it was so well-written and that quote at the end reeks of something that Claudia Roth would say! :D

I sure got fooled.

So, in Bavaria quite some votes went from CSU --- 160k ---> AfD; and from SPD --- 230k --> Die Grünen; CSU --- 190k ---> Die Grünen.

The latest info / figure is especially interesting. More former CSU votes migrated to Die Grünen than to AfD. AfD most profited from the voters (180k) who usually don't participate in the elections.

Die Grünen a significant portion (140k) of new voters, the youth.

So I take the Die Grünen are the environmentalist party, and they seem to making gains.
Is Merkel in trouble?
It seems the traditional parties are in trouble ie the Social Democrates (center-left) and Christian Democrates (center-right). This trend tends to indicate massive disillusion with the public. When the traditional parties lose support, it indicates neither is addressing the genuine concerns of the citizens.

Interesting information @EnI
However, information coming from sources like “Die Tagesschau” can’t be trusted anymore without any doubt, alas...

I wouldn’t call Bündnis ‘90/Die Grünen an environmentalist party anymore. They used to be. Nowadays it’s more a far left party with a totalitarian twist imo. They aren’t adressering the genuine concerns of the people either, by the way. Though an oppositional party, you could get the impression they’re part of the government; the way they have supported the goverments politics in the last 3 years.

I find it very strange, that the largest political party in Germany carries the word "Christian" in its name. This is religiously based and it contradicts with the politics.

So I take the Die Grünen are the environmentalist party, and they seem to making gains.

They used to be.

But now they are very left (almost, if not, radical left) and in Germany they are known as a Verbotspartei - which literally translates into “a political party that wants to ban this and that”.

Most of their leaders have no university degree and they are currently enforcing “issues” which aren’t issues at all like gender (they claim there are over 47 different genders...). They tend to attract leftists and social justice warriors.

Oh yeah, and they are quite anti-German...
