NSX First Look: Acura NSX Concept

The Honda NSX, marketed in North America as the Acura NSX, is a two-seater, rear mid-engined, rear-wheel drive sports car manufactured by Honda. The origins of the NSX trace back to 1984, with the HP-X (Honda Pininfarina eXperimental) concept, for a 3.0 L (180 cu in) V6 rear mid-engine, rear-wheel drive sports car. Honda, with the intention of meeting or exceeding the performance of the then V8 engine Ferrari range, committed to the project, aiming at both reliability and a lower price. The concept evolved and had its name changed to NS-X, which stood for "New", "Sportscar" "eXperimental", although the production model launched as the NSX.
Interior is to die for...(y)

Audi calls out the Acura NSX for borrowing styling cues

Acura just unveiled an updated NSX concept at the North American International Auto Show and Audi doesn't appear to be pleased with the model's styling.

Twitter user @mattphenix posted a message saying "Is it rude to suggest that #Acura's undeniably lovely #NSX looks a lot like @Audi's 22-year-old Quattro Spyder?" Audi apparently agreed as they retweeted the message and started a war of words between fans of each respective brand.

As we reported yesterday, the NSX concept is a thinly veiled preview of the production model that will be launched by 2015. Besides featuring revised styling, the model was equipped with an interior that showcased "one potential direction" for the car's cabin.

So what do you think, is the NSX a little derivative or is Audi just worried about an R8 competitor?

1, 2, 3, 4... let's have a Twitter war

I never thought about that Audi Spyder, but I always thought the NSX looked like a R8. Interesting.

I don't think it looks anything like that. Like R8, sure, it has the same proportions and profile and some general detailing in the front - a big grill surrounded by 2 large ait intakes. Anyway, I think it looks fantastic. Let us hope it drives fantastic too.

I really doubt they are going to give it the same V6 as the other Hondas. I'd still bet on a H/R engine.

But regarding the NSX vs. R8 looks, I don't see in which way it looks like an R8. Not a single aspect is similar. If it should resemble some other car, than maybe the Lotus Esprit (Concept).

^^I think it's the pinched front that looks like the R8. But after looking at some of the very close up photos of this car, it has some very interesting bits. Honestly, I'd take the NSX over the R8 with equivalent engine.
