NSX First Look: Acura NSX Concept

The Honda NSX, marketed in North America as the Acura NSX, is a two-seater, rear mid-engined, rear-wheel drive sports car manufactured by Honda. The origins of the NSX trace back to 1984, with the HP-X (Honda Pininfarina eXperimental) concept, for a 3.0 L (180 cu in) V6 rear mid-engine, rear-wheel drive sports car. Honda, with the intention of meeting or exceeding the performance of the then V8 engine Ferrari range, committed to the project, aiming at both reliability and a lower price. The concept evolved and had its name changed to NS-X, which stood for "New", "Sportscar" "eXperimental", although the production model launched as the NSX.
My hopes are for 320HP V6 N/A and 2 x 40HP electric motors which results in 400HP :)
Extensive use of lightweight material such as carbon fiber and a price of 100k euro after 20% tax...
I'll be the first owner trust me !!!! :eusa_pray

If you like NA engines I believe you. We don't know for sure, but both the new Gallardo and the R8 could get the new V8 4.0 TFSI instead of the V10 5.2 FSI what would be sad, at least for me as a NA fan. Also the NSX being a hybrid could also be a very good sporty daily car. Japanese still hev more experience in hybrids than europeans, the Honda CRZ is a good car in fact, that is any heavier than others, just lacks power.

But, the chief engineer of the Aventador said Lamborghinis will always have naturally aspirated high-revving engines since an exotic supercar must relay the experience of a true racing car, which is why an exotic supercar must have a naturally aspirated high-revving engine???

We are entering the new turbocharged era in motor sports too :)

Yes that is what it is meant to be. But if Audi is replacing all V10 engines by turbocharged V8 engines I think the Gallardo will get the same end, unless Lamborghini also buils a special new V10 for it. We'll see.

I've come around to the new NSX and am getting more piqued with each passing day. It does lack the purity of its predecessor, but I guess I shouldn't expect a re-hash of the past; too much time has passed by for that. Plus, after seeing Toyota's hybrid LM racer take off from the pit paddock, I've warmed up to the whole hybrid-sportscar compromise. I'm not fully onboard, but I am warming up.

I'm hoping this makes Toyota bring back the Supra. 8)

I think that's going to be hinged on how well the GT86/FR-S do. But, I do hope it does further this sportscar renaissance we are seemingly in and that there is a true Supra successor.

The soup Nazi! That takes me back. I thought Jerry was a Porsche guy.

Yeah, the Soup Nazi and alien bit got a chuckle out of me. Oh, and Jerry's very much a Porsche man, but I guess Honda offered him (and Leno) some decent chunk of change, or they may get one of the first cars after all :). But he is still a Porsche aficionado through and through... I remember recently there was a Porsche event where they formally introduced the 991 to the North American crowd, and he had a couple of his cars on display. His vast Porsche collection has reduced a bit through auctioning off, but he still has a significant number of Porsches, including a 959 and a 935 LM racer from the 1970's, if I am not mistaken.

BTW, this is the event I was talking about:

Does this commercial mean that the NSX is about to enter production soon ?
The simple fact that there is a commercial about it and at the end it says "It's coming soon!".

Soon, like in two years. This was done in order to put Acura back in people's mind as they have become rather irrelevant as of late. This was done as a statement of intent.

It's no worse than the generic mould that McLaren offered up. In fact the NSX looks a bit more distinctive.

That said, they should have paid hommage to the original and established some sort of design heritage and credibility. Japanese manufactures still can't seem to get their heads around this concept.

The car does look exciting in that Superbowl advert, sadly I could not relate to the humor at all. Must be specific for the American market.

If the sound at the end was of the NSX then I can say it sounds very good, better than the turbo sound of the GT-R, MP4-12C, M5 or any AMG Biturbo. I love NA.
