A6/S6/RS6 Facelifted Audi A6 (Spy pics & info)

Whats this deal with this exactly? Why are they copying and pasting the same rear light design onto every car???

I loved it when they made the "Single frame grill" over the whole mode line but that was because I love that "Single frame grill" .. but I must admit I hate those lights! HATE HATE HATE!!!

The only car those was perfect for was the Nuvolari and besides that they have been redesignet since the Nuvolari!

Audi ***, get a grip!!

Can someone predict the next A8's & A7's rearlight design? :t-hihi:

:D;)

If and I say IF, Audi will use eaven a slighty hint of the same design for the new A7 and A8 I will offically call Audi for just a regular brand with no passion! I tought they where going the other way, looking at the R8 and V12 Concept.. A1 Concept, ++ many other concepts but I was wrong..
Only brand with real passion and no compromise is the Fighting Bull!
Which Audi owns =/ one day I'll buy it from them again!

tho i dont like audi's copy and paste effort, but judging fromt he spyshot, the rear light of the a6 and a4/a5/a3 have some distinguishable differnecse. to me, this is just like in the early 2000s, when c, slk, clk, s, e and cl-class all had triangle-shaped rear lights but with different details.
i do hope that pray that audi can be somewhat more adventurous and imaginative with their design tho.

Damn, all this hatin' again...

I bet that that's why Audi is so succesful right now, and will go plus for 11th year in a row, cause of their cars look alike...that must be it... *sarcasm*

It could be the reason why Audi is successful. BMW has got more "hating" than any other germancarmakers since year 2002. And guess what, BMw sell more cars than Audi and MB. So I guess "hating" is a good thing :D

Naah, I think that we here at a little too obsessed withe the design.

Go and ask an Audi/Beemer/Benz owner what he thinks of the design themes behind the shape of its car, the consistency of these principles in the different generations of the model, the respective philosophy of its car and its competitors, the way his cars is integrated in the whole line-up...

He'll see you strangely and call you crazy if you speak to him of the Bauhaus and germanic design principles behind its Audi!

No, i think people hardly make a difference, they think the car look cool and bought it, or the price was better, or they like the image it gives...

I mean...yes, the A4 looks similar to the old one, yes it is annoying for us that the front, and rear and interiors are copy-pasted through the whole line-up.

But nonetheless, all these Audi look good, even if they all are similar it is an attractive design, very modern, so it meets success. The big majority of the buyers are not concerned by the same things, and can't make 500 responses and argue like us only about the design theme of a car!!

I only think it can annoy the buyer of upper models, not happy to have the same car as the lower models. But it always was like that at Audi, so...

And guess what, BMw sell more cars than Audi and MB. So I guess "hating" is a good thing :D

Seriously..you know that has nothing to do with it, and it was a weird comparison. Go back 15 years...10 years... and look how far Audi was behind BMW then... And look now!!
And...let's talk again in 5 years..

Hm ... No.

Actually for years Audi was ahead of BMW in European sales. And now it's vice versa.

It has much to do with new models being introduced, about targeted customer base, about entering new markets, etc.

Eg. since most high-volume Audi cars sold in Europe are FWD & are actually more spacious (family-friendly) than BMW cars - Audi has quite broader customer base, while BMW is considered more "niche".

When BMW added new models in portfolio, they overtook Audi in sales. Now when Audi is adding new models as well, the gap is closing again.

And it has also a lot to do with
a) price (incl. financial services),
b) production capacities, and
c) sales network (markets & dealerships).

Eg. in China where Audi has much more production capacities & more dealerships the sales of Audi cars exceed BMW sales a lot.

Of course Audi is a premium brand, has a great image, and offers great cars so it's normal the cars sale. But as I said: why someone sells more depends on several reasons.

The only fair comparison would be eg. if BMW, MB, & Audi had totally identical dealer network, identical prices, identical product portfolio, identical production capacities, identical image, identical room in cabin etc then we could say the design is the key factor for purchasing / not purchasing a particular car. Yet now we can only speculate, and nothing more.

RS6 facelifted sedan being tested. Gives us an idea of what the facelifted A6 rear lights would look like

It looks handsome because it's an RS6. On a normal A6, it's kind of generic I think. But it's better than pre-facelift for sure!

Is it me of do the lights look a little photo chopped?? Either way they are sooooooooooo hot. On the other hand it's a pity that half the Audi line up will be rocking the same tail lights. It's just what we wanted, an enlarged RS4. It will easily be the most attractive car in the bunch.

Second that. The whole car looks somehow fake! And I don't see Audi travelling the world with "secret" rearlights naked like that. Especially not Audi, always very careful with its mules and testcars.

I just found the original images and the car was like expected covered with Audi's red masking tape:

WCF - Audi A6 Facelift Caught Undisguised

The Audi A6 has been on the market since 2005 and will be replaced by an all new fourth generation model in 2011, so it is about time for a mid life facelift.

These latest shots taken in Germany reveal the A6 Avant Facelift undergoing testing with a slightly redesigned front bumper, new rectangular fog lamps and bigger air-intakes on the left and right of the grille. Engines will stay largely unchanged apart from the addition of the 290hp supercharged V6 as reported earlier this week.

We expect to see the debut later this year, with Paris being a likely destination.

Audi AG is a German automotive manufacturer of luxury vehicles headquartered in Ingolstadt, Bavaria, Germany. A subsidiary of the Volkswagen Group, the company’s origins date back to the early 20th century and the initial enterprises (Horch and the Audiwerke) founded by engineer August Horch (1868–1951). Two other manufacturers (DKW and Wanderer) also contributed to the foundation of Auto Union in 1932. The modern Audi era began in the 1960s, when Volkswagen acquired Auto Union from Daimler-Benz, and merged it with NSU Motorenwerke in 1969.
