F30 off to a soft start in U.S?

The first several months of the F30 have posted lower numbers than comparable months in the final year of the outgoing E90. In June, while car sales in general were skyrocketing (some makers posting almost 100% gains, even in Luxo divisions i.e Acura, Infiniti, still haven't seen M-B's....), the F30 was down dramatically.

Any reason that makes it a smoke and mirrors effect (i.e some models not available yet, etc.)? Maybe others don't like that weird front end as much as I don't? :D

Yes, there was a report on this a while back. Long story short, BMW North America isn't happy as the cars people want don't get there quickly enough.

Without looking at the number too much I though the 3 was down overall this year due to the convertible, wagon and coupe all winding down production...i.e. the sedan was carrying the whole load?

Perhaps. It's pretty weird. I along with obviously everybody expected the obligatory sales inflation at least during the launch of the car, especially for a new 3 Series.

I think M-B will take it this year. Too many new products launching strongly and BMW's big kick was supposed to be the new 3 (which we all assumed would be enough to curb all of M-B's new models alone). Unless it gets a kick in the pants and can at least sell on par with the E90, M-B might retain that "crown" they're so desperate for.

when did they start selling the new 3? I imagine there's a bit of a lull between the E90 and the F30.
