3 Series (F30) F30 328i vs 335i - Real World Impressions

The sixth generation of the BMW 3 Series consists of the BMW F30 (sedan version), BMW F31 (wagon version, marketed as 'Touring') and BMW F34 (fastback version, marketed as 'Gran Turismo') compact executive cars. The F30/F31/F34 generation was produced from October 2011 to 2019 and is often collectively referred to as the F30. For the sixth generation, the coupé and convertible models were spun off to create the new BMW 4 Series nameplate.
Yes for sure! That's a great way of putting it. E90 gen I'd say, you were really missing out on something opting for the 328i over the 335i. But now, I'd say that the 335i is the preferred experience, but you really can't go wrong with the 328i.

I just spoke to a dealer in the south bay about their F30 2013 335i manual. Headed over tomorrow night… hoping we can make a deal!

Stevens Creek. One of my buddies just told me it's like going through the gates of Mordor but whatever. We'll see what we can do.

As for the S4. I'm overall just a bit bored with my A4 despite it being an all around great car. I had an S4 as a loner - liked it - Would much more enjoy the overall technology experience in the BMW (MMI is a a bit sloppy) and just feel like getting something much more different than another B8-based car. Will be very interested in the B9 S4 or Avant when those come around but for now the 335i is a more compelling buy.

Great write up and I totally agree with you on the interior of the F30 it is more plasticky than I expected, not as well built as the E90, also steering is no where as good as E90, the nice heavy weighting and feel is in another league to the F30. I have yet to drive a 328i or 335i but it looks like there is not much difference between them and depends on personal taste affordability.

Yesterday I drove a 4.8 V8 X5 and am totally hooked after experiencing the awesome sound and character of that engine, the larger engines 6 and 8 cylinders just leave more of an exciting feeling with me than a 4 cylinder.

Peter Pan? WTF???

It's an actual name of a BMW dealer here in the San Francisco/San Jose area. :D

Stevens Creek, I work just 5 minutes from that dealer. What a HUGE selection of cars they have... a few weeks back they had at least 7 M5's and as many M6's. *Drool*

Yeah it's funny. I've driven by Peter Pan so many times I haven't given a second thought to how ludicrous it is.

Just got contacted by the dealer - I may be too late to buy the car today. Wahhh! Supposedly he's selling the car right now. Dealer shenanigans or true story? Hard to say, had a buddy who does service at BMW run the VIN and it's perfect. Fingers crossed - hard to find a car in the 'goldilocks zone' like this.

Hey Osna, what's your opinion on leasing an F30?

Not my style. I have a 50 mile commute and make occasional trips down to LA which run about 800mi a piece.

Wouldn't be too surprised if they call back to say the other guy's financing fell through. Have happened to me couple of times. Seems to be some standard dealer mind game. Or maybe not.

Called this morning. Car is GONE.

Red wasn't my first choice for exterior color but the thing was loaded with every available option short of drivers assistance package II - Plus I was gonna give it that ruthless black grill/black wheels/KGB tint treatment.

Back to the drawing board… One thing I realized after last week's test drive… Estrol Blue with Coral Red interior is a wicked combination!
