Is there any collection of information about what the new f12/13 will look like? We know about engines, but that is easy to predict unless BMW elects to introduce something entirely new in that department.

I recognize the 3er is the moneymaker, but we are reading more about the next 3 series than learning about the new 6 series.

What is taking so long? The new 5 can be bought, and all we have are widely varying renderings, and photos with psychedelic sticky tape applied over [hopefully] additional disguise.

Lots of us want to know more about the coming 6er!! Have a heart!

The only exciting news that we have heard about the forthcoming 6er is that there will be a "GT" derivative which will have 4 doors with the rear doors being suicide doors. Other then that, I have absolutely no idea why development /news and even spy pics on this car are so scarce.

neue 6er

We also know it's going to be a looker.

Yep, but it seems like there is more secrecy/less info leaked about this car than the other models. And more being leaked about subsequent models, the 3 series in particular.

I want to know more about the "best looking BMW in years" quotes from people who work there.

Perhaps release dates are being pushed back.

I´ve even offered to go work at BMW for free to help speed things up with the 6er, but nothing!! If they gave us some bits of info every once and a while, it would make the waiting time more bearable!! This is worse than watching paint dry!!!:t-banghea

C'mon, Scott27! We are getting loads of 2012 3 series information! What's up with the new 6er? This is driving some of us nuts. Have a heart and give us more to go on about the new coupe.

F12 in particular is a worry. We haven't seen that car once yet. Not once, and it's supposed to be out later this year. But it seems to be new X3 and new 5er the whole time for 2010....

The X3 will be the next all-new BMW model so attention is currently on that especially on the fact that it has to change perspective when regarding the much maligned but best selling E83 model.

You will get to see more of the 6er in the coming weeks as Autobild and other media in Germany will be doing a segment meaning a new interpretation and we will finally see the public testing of the Coupe. Currently it is being put through it's paces at BMW's private proving grounds in Germany sans disguise, The Coupe is in sweden too only venturing out at night.

I am afraid that it is typical BMW procedure which was used on the E88 and E93 respectively Cabrio first because of the engineering challenge , The Coupe is upcoming and although it will be covered in typical BMW acid-trip camouflage it will give you a very good indication of the profile and the muscular stance. Example in early 2007 was when we first saw the prototypes for the 1er Coupe (E82) prior to it's debut later that summer. Current E63 production climaxes this october in what has been a successful new interpretation of a big coupe for BMW.

I keep on saying this but when you see a 6er Coupe on the street you just have to stop and stare , The proportions and the style that athletic stance there is no other car like it, It's a car that was ahead of it's time and even though it is almost a decade old it still looks like it was launched today.

Good to read all that. Current 6er was great, with a high quality interior (best of the line-up when just new), but it's getting old fast now, and it doesn't fit the new look anymore.
I have high hopes for the new version....is the Concept ED grille still intact on the 6er?

What I really want to see is exposed headlights like in both the M1 concept and the vision concept.

You won't see them, that will be for the next gen lineup.

In terms of size , The 6er will receive the second largest grille after the 7er although it will not be as tall but will be wide to signify the sporting appearance.
The grille is more shapely like the Z4 and the Vision Efficient Dynamics it wont glow blue though.

LOL, no blue lights?? :( ;)
A mix of Vision ED and Z4 sounds awefully good, damn!

Some birdie said that the angel eyes on new 6er would be semi hex like vision concept.

For real? Would be so cool :eusa_pray:eusa_pray

Yeah, like the now old school Bimmers. Without glass in front of the headlights. So everything before the E36, which was the first one of a new generation of headlights, that even now has that very same basic design in every BMW. It's becoming boring!
Headlights like the M1 and Vision ED...so there's hope again :eusa_danc:eusa_danc

I have that feeling too, I think you're right sadly. Next gen will probably have exposed headlights again on some models though. These concepts here with these small hints towards exposed lights? Twice is not a coincidence :D

The next line of cars will use a similiar feature as seen in the 2006 Mille Miglia Concept with a smaller strip incorporating LED typical BMW four eye look with larger driving lamps similar to a Rolls-Royce Phantom. These lights under development currently are very beneficial for night driving especially with objects detected the light can zoom in and identify an object or obstacle detected by the car.

The Z2 Roadster and Coupe Twins which can be said are in spirit, modern equivalents to the BMW 328 Roadster and Coupe - winner of many Mille Miglia events utilising a modern update of the same concept - back to basics , lightweight , drop dead gorgeous and powerful enough to provide a thrilling driving experience.

BMW now know more than ever that there is interest in this sort of car especially with the advent of the MINI "Oxford" duo. There is an interest in smaller orientated performance concepts. The press have been asking and dropping hints that such a concept can be supported by being a BMW as well as a lower priced MINI. Of course they are right .

My first 6 was an L6, and it was a gas. I bought my 2004 6 series without ever seeing it in the metal. It was a great car. It was the first delivered at the Centrum in South Carolina.

I have regretted selling it many times, and am eager to buy the next generation 6. With all the hoopla about cars scheduled to come out after the next gen 6 should be on the market, the secrecy about the new car's looks, equipment, tech, hell, even wheels, is very frustrating. Maybe they'll even put better, conventional tires on the new car! Who knows?

I wish they would lighten up and just show us the car. Dealers are going to have to hustle to move the stock of the existing car no matter when they show us the new one.

C`mon Scott27, this thing of getting info on the 6er in the form of eye-droplets is getting us nervous. Pump up the volume, man(please!). If our bride to be plays so hard to get, we might wind up married to somebody else!!! Get the hint??? I want to marry the next 6er but you guys keep her covered under a "burka", we can barely see the eyes!! Have a heart Scott27, give us a few more peeks!! If we do get married, you`re invited!! The ceremony will be at the Welt!!

This whole thread should be merged with the official F12 spy pics and info thread in the 6er forum! We're having separate discussions now.
