I think there will be a lot of people who will grow into the design. Meaning they hate it first and like it a week later.

What is there to wonder? Most BMW fans will like it, most MB fans will not.

Not entirely rue:D I give credit when credit is due. Obviously this is a more delicate matter since it concerns the holy S-class. If the 7er is better or super revolutionary then by all means i will take my hat off and kneel. Can't imagine that it's only one week left, I'm surprised we haven't seen any picture fully production ready models with just simply masking tape on. It looks like BMW wants to keep everything sealed until D-day for a proper unveiling.

Either way people will have every reason to be disappointed if the car doesn't turn out to be as divine like Scott has constantly propagated it to be. My expectations are neither high or low. I'm just standing by ready to meet animal and judge it by what I see.

Having spent a lot of time with this car , I can say it does work but what I am concerned about is the continuation of comments that it's a return to the BMW design of old and the justification that BMW were wrong over Chris Bangle's design direction.

Sorry it's not , we dont look back unless it is a reincarnation of a classic BMW -ie 2002 - BMW 1er Coupe . and besides the 7er is BMW's flagship sedan and effectively (For now) The tentpole to the BMW product line in this case it is always required to look forward for a car of this calibre instead of looking back.

A majority of People will hate it , I know they will , the indecisive will have their opinions made for them as they do when asking what do I spec. my BMW with? My opinion is I like it , there is a very futuristic out of this world approach to what has been achieved And some people will be blown away.

I leave you with this final word , In all the last 3 years when we have first seen the first disguised mules and the (supposed) insider and media (own) presentations. No one has come close to the final look of the car in which of that I am extremely happy because not only did it stir the debate but it means you do not know what you are about to receive and there is the excitement of it all , the unveiling will be a surprise and for that you should be very, very excited at the prospect of that.

PS - I have just found out today that I am getting the PAS Konzept/Production car to do - Now thats a car some will see more pointless than the X6 , But I promise there will not be a family orientated Mini-van feel to the concept.

Great news! Look forward to PAS. When and where are they showing the concept?

I dont care how the interior going to look like, at least the driver oriented dashboard is back! :eusa_clap::eusa_danc

I'm sure all you all have a right to be excited about the 7 series, since its the flagship BMW and all. On the other hand I am suprised to see you so excited considering that ever since I have "e-known" you, you have always hated large sedan like the A8,7 and S, but love the 3,A4 and 5 series.

I'm a little confused by you...have your interest in large cars changed, or is this just support for the BMW brand as a whole Just_me?

Maybe its because the F01 points to the 'new' direction, design-wise and technology-wise, that the next series of BMW cars will have. Just like the E65 represented the design and technology of the current range of BMWs.

Bang on target :D

Please note that this goes no matter how the 7-series turns out. The BMW crowd will love it and the MB followers will say that they are 'disappointed'.

Not really...

I'm sure that all Mercedes-Benz fans aren't looking to devote large sums of time to talk badly of the new 7. There are reasons that BMW fans are drawn to BMW, just like Mercedes-Benz fans are drawn to Mercedes. It all about what that brand has presented in the past and how the new design has progressed to increase the design experience for potential customers.

Now do I believe this will beat the S-class in terms of design, technology and sophistication, of course not. Will it beat the S-class sales? I doubt it. On the other hand, I will not dismiss the car before I see it (in person). Yes, I will express my view as far as first looks when the images are put on the net. But I still will look at it as a strong competitor to the S-class as well as a masterpiece of German engineering.

It is a matter of ranking here. I think that the leader in the luxury segment is changing whenever Mercedes-Benz is launching its S-Klasse, and BMW its 7er. Of course, the new BMW 7er will definitely take the crown this time. I must admit that it deserves it. Personally, I don't think that S-Klasse will become an unattractive choice, but that's life:I bet that in Romania, where I live, the new BMW 7er will boost sales, as it happened with other models.

Expect some years, and when a new S-Klasse will be unveiled, the situation will once again change.:)

I don't think Merc fans will have the necessary reasons to be dissapointed by the new 7er.
I believe the car will be mouth-watering:usa7uh:

True , I would never buy a X5,X6 or 7er- not my cup of tea. But I still want them to look good and drive well.
Reason why I like seeing driver-oriented dashboard again is becuase now we will see it on more upcoming models from BMW.

That is the only interest I have in cars like the 7-series. Sure, the A8. S-class and 7-series are great cars and all but not for me.

I think you should take a look at this thread days after the presentation :D

The same goes for the followers but the other way around.

Design? Very easy for 7er, because S class is an ugly pig.

Technology??? Don't make me LOL. BMW is the all time king of technology. They invented the computer chip inside the automobile.

Sophistication? Meh...copying the 7er E65 interior can hardly be called that....

^ not quite true, in the new millenium it is Mercedes that actually has surpassed BMW with the best and first for the German's technology race on useful technologies. ie: MB was first with Distronic (active cruise), Keyless Go, Night View Assist, LED lights etc Even direct injection came first on the CGI models, although full-scale implementation was Audi.
