Just realised that clip /teaser on the bmw website has changed... slightly..
can't wait. perhaps the final version of the film will be the F01 crossing that bridge??

I really don't like this type of car but I must say that I am a bit curious as well. Will it, against all odds, have a chance against the natural class defining S-class?

1. It will not just have a chance

2. Definitely not against all odds

;):D

Judging by how good the current S-class is, I would say the odds are not on the Bimmers side. On the other hand, the S-class is not brand new anymore.

the S-class is not brand new anymore.

Facelift coming next year. Either way you bimmer boys seem to be really enthusiastic about this car, patiently waiting for it's arrival. Let's hope it lives up to the hype. I wonder what's going to be the car's biggest selling point.

It is understandable, the current 7-series was a revolution. Some still doesn't like it. It also seems like fans of other brands are anticipating this too and that is always nice.

Doesnt matter if the new 7er is just as good or better, the S-class will still be the best selling model. If 7er selling better than S-class even after a few years Im going to cut my right arm off ;)

Be prepared, because that is the exact thing that is going to happen.
I will cut off a finger if it won't ;)

Luw, of course we are really enthusiastic about this car. The 7er always marks a new design direction for BMW, and it is always fully loaded with never before seen high tech stuff.

What is really surprising me is headlights design, i thought they were smaller and more CS like than FL E65 ones, but after seeing the latest spy pics it makes me doubt, thay are more like the actual ones in size, but with a more agresive shape.

What do you think?.

The 7series will lead a change in design direction, just like the E65 did about 8 years ago, I guess BMW believes they can try new stuff with the 7series since they got nothing to lose, and they got another 4 years or so to test how the market accepts the new design elements before launching the next 3series which they just cannot make a mistake with. On the other hand MB needs to play safe with the Sclass, it is their icon and they can't screw it up.. Surely enough the F01 won't be the most usual looking car, but I won't be surprised if it overshadows the S class.

Okay, thanks EnI, didn't knew that. Looks weird... The other runflat tyres look more like normal ones, why are the PAX so different? (or maybe I just didn't look correctly at any runflat...)

The other runflat used by BMW generate their ability to run without air by having a very stiff shoulder. It is almost three times as large as on normal tires with heavy steel-wire-enforcement. When the air is out of the tire the whole car runs o these shoulders.
The bad thing about these is, that they lack comfort due tu their stiffness.
That´s where the PAX are better. When they loose air the car runs on the yellow plastic you see in EnIs pics. The siffness of the shoulder is normal and therefore so is the comfort.
Nevertheless the tie has so be formed differently so that it doesn´t slip from the rim when it looses pressure.

- the black box you see is to control air-pressure.

Exactly.

PAX system provides much better ride comfort than the other run-flat solutions. Due the reasons described in the post above.

But since the PAX system requires special rim design (a part of PAX system) the solution is quite expensive & not (yet) suitable for widespread use.

Although Honda put PAX on their Odyssey mini-van, & on the FL Acura RL model.

l would defenitly want them on my F01, makes me have peace of a mind and looks different ... people whould always wonder why are those tires looks so bulky and heavy, and will gave that extra strong look to the car.

I hope the 7er will be beautiful enough not to need wierd tyres to be looked at...:D

I'd definitely avoid them because they (imo) ruin the look of the rims. Looks awful.

Here is a new photoshop from the 'Auto Motor und Sport' website :
