Fair pricing I'd say.

If the BMW price is fair, the S600 price is not, since the gap is quite big. I thought it would be smaller, or maybe even the same. But it looks like Mercedes can still sell the same product for much more since it has the three pointed star on the hood....

^ ...maybe it's not the same product.

If you ask me, Panamera's pricing is very attractive there.
Well, up until you open up the ordering guide.

Evey single Mercedes car nowadays is more expensive than the competence (BMW, Audi...) It´s just a matter of prestige, you are paying the star above the hood, simple as that. And people knows it, the more expensive a class of cars is, the less non-Mercedes cars you see. I don´t use to see to S600s, but more S AMGs, but I think I´ve seen 4 or 5 time less 760s than S60s, and W12 A8s maybe just one or two.

In terms of prestige Mercedes>>>BMW>>Audi.

I've seen one A8L W12 in 5 years! It is the rarest Audi in America, I'd bet they sell more R8s than they do A8 W12s.

Of course they can, because until now the S600 hasn't had any serious competition from BMW or Audi. Only various Bentleys and Rollers compared to the S600. An 11K doesn't mean a thing at this price level anyway.

S65 AMG price is more out of this world ...

$200k for S AMG??????

What about Bentley?

Most would go for the Bentley at that price I'm sure, but the S65 really murdered the Bentley until this year's Speed version arrived with 600hp. The Bentley has a better interior and of course that name. The Bentley name says a lot.

The S-Class has never been defined by the three pointed hood, it IS the car that defines the three pointed star. Mercedes spare no effort, time or money developing a new S-Class generation, and unlike its rivals it's a revolutionary car that always pushes the boundaries of automotive technology -- and off course, it's the most comfortable car in the segment.

All the technology packed into the car doesn't come cheap. Countless of testing hours go into making sure that the technology not only works but also safe. If necessary, Mercedes even have to acquire firms who are in possession of relevant patents. Innovation costs and thus Mercedes are well justified into charging a premium price for the S-Class. Further more the designo studio can do things for you that are well beyond what what other manufacturers would even dream of offering their customers. They go beyond leather and wood options. The S-Class is a top product and top products come at a top price.

What about the Flying Spur then? It's a different car from the S-Class, it's purely about luxury as in quality feel and exclusivity. Other than that, there is not much else to speak off when it comes to the Flying Spur.

If I was the buy a car in this price range, I would pick a 760i over S600 anyday but if its was a decision between S63 and 760i, then the decision would be much harder.

I would have the 760 becuase I relate to BMW and the F01/F02. That said the S-class is the leader in this segement - always was and will be - I respect the S-class for its innovation and leadership and so does the world - a fact even mr. BMW myself admits with a smile!!!!

Well I respect the 760il especially for finally steping into the 500HP plus society (which was only held by the M5). On the other hand the 760 has never been as meaningful as the S600 has been IMO.

On the other hand the Bentley Flying Spur serves another purpose then the S65AMG. Personally I would gladly take the S65 AMG over the Flying Spur. Maybe not the Arnage, but surely the Flying Spur.

I thought you didn't like big cars.

True, but I'd still have 760i ober S63 any day of the week. Superior car all around imo.
