Evo - Audi R8 Plus, Ferrari 458 Italia, McLaren 12C - Group test

My impression from reading reviews and opinion of people who own MP4, is that the McLaren would actually be the most usable - the ride is suposed to be sublime, even luxury car rivaling.

That is just Jeremy missing up with your head bro. kidding aside, I read the same too, but what about boot space, headroom, legroom, all weather drivability etc etc.

Audi logical? That car costs closer to 400k than 300k here in my country.

Just to correct Klier's wild exaggerations, the selling price of the MOST EXPENSIVE R8 Coupe is €261,000, so it's NOT "closer to 400K than 300K, and that's whether you're talking about Euros or Dollars.

in a million years an Audi for that money.

Lucky then that you don't have to make that decision. ;)

I would say it really is so. But thing is that the MP4-12C is more expensive, and more exclusive, but not necessarily exotic to the eys of many. Another factor is the low number of dearlers. That is the major reason for the unsuccessful sales of the MP4-12C, by my understanding.

Hehe, I actually don't remember reading Jeremy's opion on the McLaren. I was going by Evo and probably couple of US mags. But more importantly opinion of couple of people on teamspeed and Renlist who own a MP4.

All three being mid engine 2 seaters, I doubt there is much difference in boot space or cabin space between all three. I am sure R8 probably has some traction advantage in wet weather, but unless you plan on going racing in the wet, I am sure MP4 with TC and other alphabet soups turned on is perfectly capable of geting you home too - it definitely is no widow maker. I think it is Evo who did the MP4 vs 911 turbo S vs SLS vs another (Noble?) in which I think they stated except for all weather traction MP4 was as usable 911 Turbo S, except faster.

Think day to day usability, reliability, AWD, space and running costs. That is logic to me when I spend that kind of money.

Running costs don't matter when you buy a 300k+ car, and for the rest, this AWD nonsense is highly overrated.
An Italia is just as usable for me. People really need to cut the nonsense about this AWD crap these days.

Again, never ever an Audi for that money. Much rather have a real supercar brand then. Like a Ferrari, Lambo or McLaren.

It's only nonsense if you've never had the need of it, I and I'm sure others will disagree with your opinion specially with regards to the R8 as it's AWD is much less intrusive than most regular AWD systems and is there mainly to aid traction exiting corners than anything else.

Again, never ever an Audi for that money. Much rather have a real supercar brand then. Like a Ferrari, Lambo or McLaren.

Again you are entitled to your highly bias opinion and the fact you include Lamborghini just shows how stupid your position on this subject is but the rest of us would love to be in the situation to drive an R8 every single day.

you need a shotgun to convince me more bro :)

What complete and utter nonsense. How do you know Klier? You're not in any position to comment. Why do people think that just because you can afford an expensive car you have money coming out of every orifice? I could afford to buy an R8, but buying is just one element of car ownership costs. What is much cheaper with an R8 V10 is servicing, insurance, spare parts, along with longer service intervals and a more convenient dealer network. The beauty of the R8 is that you're getting 90% of a Gallardo with only 50% of the costs.

And secondly, since when does the R8 cost more than 300,000?

You're school bag economics from the bedroom of your mum and dad's house make me laugh sometimes.

I don't think there are many who would disagree with you. I for one, had I been in the position to buy a Ferrari or McLaren, would not be driving an R8.

So out of mild curiosity I checked the boot in all 3. I couldn't bother to look up any actual figures, but merely by appearance MP4 does seem to have largest boot. And I wouldn't be surprised if R8 has the smallest, it does have to accommodate the AWD hardare upfront.

Whoa, never thought you could take so much stuff with you in your MP4...

Not that it matters much, but the R8 boot does look smallest, objectively. I wouldn't have thought so somehow.

Oh, look at the Ferrari, its boot light comes directly from the previous generation Fiat Punto. :yuck:

Utterly baffling that Alfa releasing the first lightweight CF chassis sportscar at a reasonable price, everybody talks about how cheap the interior looks like.
