And one says Tesla has no marketing...

A marketing department that every other car company is envious of.

If the launch succeeds, it will be the greatest advert of all time. Tesla's brand value will skyrocket - and purely by association - the Tesla brand will be associated with space exploration.

If the launch fails and erupts into a massive fireball (of which there's a very high possibility), everyone will tune in to watch a $100M rocket that's been in development for 10 years go up in flames on its maiden flight. It will get insane coverage & views on every channel/site/platform.

Either way, the whole world watches.
Marketing budget - $0

You sure about that? It's not the 60's anymore where the whole world stopps to watch space explorations.

Their marketing budget is way more than zero. I know you're enthusiastic about Elon, but a lot of the marketing and claims are borderline smoke & mirrors.

I think it is a pretty cool marketing gimmick, that is it. As for Tesla's brand association with space exploration, that is a stretch. Call me cynical, but Elon is his own brand, and this is him promoting himself.

Either way, the whole world watches.

Oh there is a marketing budget but they won't call it at that.

First static test fire of the Falcon Heavy with the Tesla Roadster aboard. Looks like launch might happen on the 30th.

Mr. Steven (boat with the giant prongs on its back) has also been spotted doing test runs near the shores of LA. It is expected to catch the multi million dollar Fairings when they fall from the sky after launch.

Old picture from April 5, 2011 when Musk first announced plans to build Falcon Heavy. Nobody knew him at the time and only a handful of reporters showed up for the conference. Tomorrow, millions will be watching. (1.30PM EST)

Millions? Probably not even a million worldwide. And those will be the Elon worshippers. The other 6 billion will not have a clue and don't care.

I wouldn't know this was happening if I hadn't stumbled upon this thread. Why doesn't he send the new Roadster?

Yeah, I said in another Tesla thread it’s not 1969 anymore. Unless it’s a legit alien discovery, Joe Public doesn’t care about space explorations like in the past.

Looking forward to it. I was impressed when some months ago when they landed rocket back onto a launch pad.

Good luck to them and hope it goes off without a hitch.

Yay! Something I probably made is now space junk!!

How bout the main booster's landing on the drone ship? The broadcast cut short before any confirmation was given. Tried looking online, but no luck.

Well, pretty spectacular I must say, and it appears to be a 100% success.

Absolutely amazing to see those rockets land again.

Gotta admit, my mind was blown when I saw that. Too bad we couldn't see the landing on the 'drone ship'.

Tesla now officially has the fastest car of the milky way!

Waouw, that was something. Did the central rocket land on the sea platform ?

Yes it did, but there's no video yet because apparently the platform was shaking too much for the camera to handle. Maybe some helicopter nearby?
