Vs Edmunds Comparison Test: 2008 BMW M5 vs. 2009 Cadillac CTS-V vs. 2009 Mercedes-Benz C

Re: Edmunds Comparison Test: 2008 BMW M5 vs. 2009 Cadillac CTS-V vs. 2009 Mercedes-Be

No, because GM aimed the CTS-V at the M5 in particular, and the CTS at the E-Class/5-Series/A6 in general. These are the most similar in size, and have been even with the previous generation CTS. Cadillac will have a smaller-platformed car (Alpha) to compete directly in C-Class/3-Series territory.

Then they should take away C63 as well and replace it with E63. Or perhaps you have a good explanation for that? ;)

Maybe dynamically, the E63 falls short and is much more expensive?:D

At least here in Europe the Cadillac BLS is the natural C-class, A4 and 3-series competitor (and of course SAAB 9-3, Volvo S60 and Lexus IS) as it is the same size.

Theres no denying that the M5 was beatened pretty badly in this test, even on the track!..The C63 on the other hand performed impressively well and would also be my choice .. The Cadillac CTS-V however is outstanding, I can`t recall one test where this car was beaten by the M5!

As much as we don`t like it as German car fans we should welcome this new performance King. The overall value of this car is just incredible.
This statement really says it all

--------------------------------
"It's Academic
If you're looking for the short answer, here it is; the 2009 Cadillac CTS-V is undeniably faster, more nimble and between $27,000 and $32,000 less expensive than the BMW M5 it was designed to beat. The M5's price/performance ratio really penalizes it in this comparison."
--------------------------------

I don`t believe the CTS-V would have beaten the E63 in the speed tests..
however the track times might have suffered but not by much.

I`m not going to put the ultimate performance crown on this car yet because the Audi RS6 is on it`s way and theres no denying it`s going to blow the doors off this Caddy! If the RS6 beats the CTS in the most improtant catagories than the CTSv is just a poor mans M5.

Re: Edmunds Comparison Test: 2008 BMW M5 vs. 2009 Cadillac CTS-V vs. 2009 Mercedes-Be

I wish they also included M3. Considering that CS-V is hardly faster than C63 around the track and M3 is way faster than the C63, it would have probably beat the CTS V by a healthy margin.

But the CTS V is truly impressive and what is more, it actually has a first rate interior, not the crap in corvettes.

And i really can't get that, how on earth the CTS-V has a much better interior than GM's most extreme car ever?

Re: Edmunds Comparison Test: 2008 BMW M5 vs. 2009 Cadillac CTS-V vs. 2009 Mercedes-Be

But I thought the M5 isn't much slower (or is it even slower at all??) on track than a M3, this result kinda suggest that the driver only knows how to go straight line.

The M5 is slower on the track than the M3. Also the M3 is more fun to toss around a track with.
