M3/M4 E92 M3 discussion thread III

The BMW M3 is a high-performance version of the BMW 3 Series, developed by BMW's in-house motorsport division, BMW M GmbH. M3 models have been produced for every generation of 3 Series since the E30 M3 was introduced in 1986. The BMW M4 is a high-performance version of the BMW 4 Series automobile developed by BMW's motorsport division, BMW M, that has been built since 2014. As part of the renumbering that splits the coupé and convertible variants of the 3 Series into the 4 Series, the M4 replaced those variants of the BMW M3. Official website: BMW M
440 is a tad close to the M5, but if it's in the 440 range it would be 444 hp
anywaylet's do some form of contest, or betting andw e could have some symbolic gift, like M3 prophet or a stupid tag like this appended to the winners name
what about that
i mean this number must be one the most contested figures this year

the e46 m3 was around the same performance wise as the e39...so i wouldnt be surprised if the m3 got 440....its just that is alot of power for a car like that...i think thses horsepower wars are crazy...i like it but its crazy because cars are incredibly fast now...whats next the c63 to have over 500? its gotta be stopped i think...but after this car because its gonna be unreal...

I do remember seeing a spy pic with 444 plates - must be still around - not sure if it was a chop. I also remember seeing M5 spy pics with 507 plates.

I'm with it, you can go ahead and crown (RICHBOY) now!:D

read what sunny said and you would know why i chose 444, dibs on it it's mine
i believe just me will stick with 426, and i am ready to offer my boxer shorts (still the ones with the hole) if it's 426

440 sounds great, but I would be very surprised if M can get 110 hp/ltr out of the 4 liter V8 given the apparent 8250 redline shown in the interior shot someone posted weeks ago. I would love to be wrong, though!

Never doubt M power!;)

Sorry been away on business and this weekend is the BMW 1er facelift / Sporthatch press drives so I will be busy .

BMW are not releasing any images to the media until the car is unveiled at Geneva - BMW will unveil it the night before the show in a studio in downtown Geneva at their annual presentation for the swiss distributors preview. BMW have gotten very angry over it's constant media leaks well before embargo . But I have seen the promo and it fits well within the ideas showcased by "See how it feels..." it's very visual it has to be ...
It's: "The next chapter in performance"

Ouch! So to prevent leaks no teaser & press release until Geneva launch? :eusa_doh:

Meaning: no M3 Concept material on mediapool.bmw.com till Geneva launch / BMW press conference. :t-banghea

Damn leaks! :taz:

Will the constant & frequent internet leaks lead to permanent different solution regarding launch events & press releases? :eusa_thin I hope not.

I don't know why, but I feel it's gonna be 440HP. None more, none less, will see soon enough!:D

A 4.0 litre 440 HP V8 will be a marvel, that is about 9.5% increase HP/litre over the E46 M3.
A 4.2 litre 440 HP V8 will be business as usual.
What the actual specifications will be, we have to wait and see.

So sorry guys stop dreaming about 440hp, it might happen for M3 CSL but not regular M3. 426hp is the correct number.

BMW M3 Concept coming to Geneva
Busy day today as I took upon the task of calling and e-mailing all my contacts in order to make a list of the Geneva Show premieres. When it came to BMW, I received your typical Bavarian cold-hearted “telegraphic” style PR e-mail: "Geneva Debuts: BMW 1-Series 3d & facelift, 5-Series facelift, X5 & Concept".

Not much of a help but when there’s a will there’s a way, so I contacted a pal of mine who works for BMW. He informed me that we’re going to see the brand new M3 at Geneva, without giving me any more details. Since both sources are trustworthy and haven’t proven me wrong until now, I think they’re both right: BMW will unveil a near-to-production concept version of the V8 powered M3 prior to its production debut at this year’s Frankfurt Motor Show in October.

When is the BMW Press conference in Geneva? Is it on March 6th or on March 7th???
And when's that preview show? I believe on that show BMW presented the Z4 race version last year!?

Best regards, south

Will the final specs and performance figures be presented at Geneva?

No.

But we'll probably get some candy like in M5 Concept case (eg. more than 400HP, less then 5s 0-100km/h, etc).

:usa7uh:

I'm just disappointed BMW have sealed all the info till Geneva launch. I'm eger to see whether M3 concept is going to be even mentioned in a regular "BMW in Geneva 2007" press release. Or they will show it in Geneva like a secret surprise.

Remember M5 concept case? There were rumors M5 Concept would be shown in Geneva, it was not mentioned in regular "BMW in Geneva" press release, yet the pics & text (scheduled for Concept premiere) appeared on official BMW site (was it bmwusa?) few days too early, and was then redrawn - and then re-released when D-day came.

I'm still disappointed BMW delayed the teaser till launch. Yet today I was told that teaser will announce a production version of M3, not a Concept M3 (as I was told earlier) - therefore synchronized launch with a teasing Concept. So, Concept M3 together with an internet teaser are both previews of production version of M3.

But like in M5 concept case we can still hope for some leak (by BMW webmasters). BMW is very leak prone lately. :D

The "BMW in Geneva 2007" press release should come tomorrow!? It's always been 2 weeks before the show!

The press release for Geneva 2004 did imo say something like: "There could be another car being presented." This meant then the M5 concept...

BMW M

BMW M GmbH, formerly known as BMW Motorsport GmbH, is a subsidiary of BMW AG that manufactures high-performance luxury cars. BMW M ("M" for "motorsport") was initially created to facilitate BMW's racing program, which was very successful in the 1960s and 1970s. As time passed, BMW M began to supplement BMW's vehicle portfolio with specially modified higher trim models, for which they are now most known by the general public. These M-badged cars traditionally include modified engines, transmissions, suspensions, interior trims, aerodynamics, and exterior modifications to set them apart from their counterparts. All M models are tested and tuned at BMW's private facility at the Nürburgring racing circuit in Germany.
