M3/M4 E92 M3 discussion thread III

The BMW M3 is a high-performance version of the BMW 3 Series, developed by BMW's in-house motorsport division, BMW M GmbH. M3 models have been produced for every generation of 3 Series since the E30 M3 was introduced in 1986. The BMW M4 is a high-performance version of the BMW 4 Series automobile developed by BMW's motorsport division, BMW M, that has been built since 2014. As part of the renumbering that splits the coupé and convertible variants of the 3 Series into the 4 Series, the M4 replaced those variants of the BMW M3. Official website: BMW M
if 4.0 liters V8 and 440hp is true. How many hp/liters ar we talking about?

A hell of a lot... 440/4 = 110 hp/liters. That's why I was saying if that is true, then it's going to exceed my expectations

Edit: Woops, I'm 1 minute late on the response, hahaha.

so the old M3 E46 develop what?

ohh lord im so excited right now.. and damn i thought it would have 420hp or 426 not 440:D
still i belive it wont be 440 to rounded for BMW..im betting on 444:D
70min to go:D

BMW feel they need to top the M3 E46 and so they have done if it turns out to be true.

107,1875 bhp/L...:D

So this is it? An hour to go???

Gonna buy a nice six pack right now, sit back, relax and enjoy...:D

:t-cheers:

343:3.2 would be around 107 hp per liter

The CSL was even more powerfull. Besides Honda squiezzed more with the S2000. And BMW is in F1, and the engine is F1 inspired, and an F1 engine outputs between 300 and 333 of good ol NA HP per litre.

M3 E46 has about 60hp less than M5 E39. So 507hp for M5 E60 minus 60hp = about 440hp for M3 E92. I can see this happening...

if its true for the standard M3 I expect the M3 CSL to have 460hp.

Just divide horsepower by the capacity. So I'm going to go with 333/3.2 = 104.1 hp/l.

This would be a huge jump by the V8 if the figures are true

But the E46 engine develop 112nm/L wich is the record for an atmospheric civil engine.

I have a feeling this is the CSL version. If you compare the E46M3 CSl with the E39 M5, it had about the game gap. 360 vs 400... now it would be 440 vs 507

If that's the case I agree. Forgot about the CSL.

Porsche and Ferrari should be afraid, very afraid. evil laughter Mwha ha

You're very right on this my friend. 440 sound very plausible in the current M lineup!

It would be better hp/l than the legendary 3.2 I6, be faster than the competition, and far enough off the M5/6

BMW M

BMW M GmbH, formerly known as BMW Motorsport GmbH, is a subsidiary of BMW AG that manufactures high-performance luxury cars. BMW M ("M" for "motorsport") was initially created to facilitate BMW's racing program, which was very successful in the 1960s and 1970s. As time passed, BMW M began to supplement BMW's vehicle portfolio with specially modified higher trim models, for which they are now most known by the general public. These M-badged cars traditionally include modified engines, transmissions, suspensions, interior trims, aerodynamics, and exterior modifications to set them apart from their counterparts. All M models are tested and tuned at BMW's private facility at the Nürburgring racing circuit in Germany.
