Following a comprehensive update, the new Mercedes-Benz GLE and the new Mercedes‑Benz GLS are more powerful, intuitive and commanding than ever – now featuring modern six-cylinder engines. Following their world premiere in Tuscaloosa, Alabama, the models are now available to order. The GLE 350 d 4MATIC is available in Germany starting at 77,365 euros excl. VAT (92,064 euros incl. VAT)1.

With numerous new or revised components, the new GLE presents itself as comprehensively modernised. The brand’s typical “Welcome home.” feeling is embodied through modern design, innovative technology and exceptional comfort. This versatile SUV remains one of the brand’s most successful models. Celebrating “140 years of innovation”, Mercedes‑Benz showcases its pioneering spirit and dedication to customer benefits.
The sportier GLE Coupé is characterised by dynamic design and dynamic driving qualities. With fresh design accents and innovative technology, it is more powerful, more expressive and more intuitive than ever before. The GLS builds on its tradition as the S‑Class among SUVs and already embodies the vision of luxury, comfort and digital intelligence. With cloud-based damper control for the AIRMATIC and E‑ACTIVE BODY CONTROL suspension systems, the vehicle automatically adjusts the damping shortly before longer speed bumps. This makes every journey even more comfortable – especially for passengers in the rear.

Mercedes-Benz GLE 350 d 4MATIC Coupé | energy consumption combined: 8.1–7.3 l/100 km | CO₂ emissions combined: 213–192 g/km | CO₂ class: G3

Future-proof electrified powertrains
Thanks to the revised engine range, the models deliver a noticeably lighter driving feel. Numerous innovations make them more agile from the outset. At the same time, in typical Mercedes‑Benz fashion, the engines offer a very high level of acoustic and vibration comfort. All diesel and petrol engines feature an integrated starter generator (ISG). It provides intelligent support in the low-speed range. In combination with turbocharging, this ensures outstanding power delivery. The system includes a 48-volt electrical system, enabling functions such as coasting, boost and recuperation, and thus significant fuel savings. In addition, the engines start very quickly and comfortably with the aid of the ISG.

A new digital experience
With the standard MBUX Superscreen, the digital world enters the GLE and GLS. Three 12.3-inch (31.2 cm) displays sit beneath one large glass surface. On the MBUX Zero Layer, the most important information and recommendations are shown in the configurable footer bar. Users can also arrange their apps as they wish and group them in individually named folders, making every interaction a highly personal experience. More than 40 apps are currently available, including audio, video, gaming and other services. The MBUX Virtual Assistant4 uses the collective knowledge of the internet and is able to conduct complex, multi-part dialogues.

The Mercedes‑Benz Operating System (MB.OS) transforms the GLE and GLS into intelligent companions that think, learn and evolve with their driver. MB.OS integrates and controls every aspect of the vehicle. This supercomputer combines artificial intelligence (AI) with powerful chips and is connected to the Mercedes‑Benz Intelligent Cloud. This enables over-the-air updates for the entire vehicle software. As a result, the GLE and GLS remain up to date and attractive for many years.

This also means the vehicles can be conveniently customised even after purchase. The ever-expanding Digital Extras portfolio5 is available with attractive offers in the Mercedes‑Benz Store and the MB.APP. It ranges from innovative features in navigation, remote functions and GUARD 360° through to on-demand functions, entertainment, productivity, driver assistance systems and customer services.

Intelligent driver assistance systems for greater safety and comfort
The new GLE and GLS models are equipped with a new, water-cooled processor. It has extensive power reserves for future driving assistance functions. To provide optimum driver assistance, each model is fitted with a wide range of sensors: ten exterior cameras as well as five radar and 12 ultrasonic sensors. These sensors work together with a powerful control unit running MB.OS. Artificial intelligence processes the sensor data in order to assess the surrounding traffic situation. In Europe, MB.DRIVE is included as part of the core specification, with functions such as DISTRONIC distance assist. Depending on the market, MB.DRIVE ASSIST offers additional assistance functions.

MB.DRIVE PARKING ASSIST6 detects parking spaces on both sides of the vehicle at a particularly early stage. It also detects free spaces that are not marked by white lines. In addition, MB.DRIVE PARKING ASSIST can assist when leaving a parking space – even if the vehicle was previously parked manually. Furthermore, the system can now park automatically at speeds of up to 5 km/h, making it around 60 per cent faster than the previous system. MB.DRIVE PARKING ASSIST 360 offers new and improved surround views with its 360-degree camera and a redesigned human-machine interface.

I find it strange why the GLE350d has the older lower output version of the OM656 with 210kw (286PS) while the GLS has the newer spec the same like in the S350d of 230kw (313PS).
