Corvette (C8) C8 Corvette rumored to go mid-engine (again)

The Chevrolet Corvette (C8) is the eighth generation of the Corvette sports car manufactured by American automobile manufacturer Chevrolet. It is the first rear mid-engine Corvette since the model's introduction in 1953, differing from the traditional front mid-engine design started in 1963. The C8 was announced in April 2019, and the coupe made its official debut on July 18, 2019, in Tustin, California.

I hate it when a company that you'd never under normal circumstances would consider buying anything they make, comes out with a hit lol. The design, price and performance for the price makes this car a real possibility for people like me who have always "liked" the Corvette, but wouldn't ever consider buying one...until now.

918-style hybrid drivetrain at $170,000? Yeah, maybe at overpriced by $20 to 30K, but overpriced as hell? No. Most reviews have found the performance and handling to be impressive. Though the design isn't bad, it's derivative. That said, what GM has accomplished at a $75,000 price point is just very impressive. And I know it starts at just under $60K, but any Stingray worth its salt is going to have the Z51 package.

C8 is what the NSX should have been. Fast and affordable, just like the first gen.

Just for giggles:

in 1991, a Corvette was circa $35,000 and an NSX was about $60,000. Solely looking at inflation, in today's US dollars, that's approx $65,000 and $125,000, respectively. Taking into account new tech, features, etc., the price is fairly commensurate for both. Doesn't take away from the impressive feat what the Corvette has achieved. I hope what's on paper matches what will be on the street/track, which I have little doubt about. Jeuchter et al. runs a tight ship.

According to auto blog, Michael Simcoe, GM Design Chief reported recently that orders have almost hit (extremely close) 2020 model year production numbers. Hopefully, they can crank up that corvette plant's output!

In North America, Chevrolet produces and sells a wide range of vehicles, from subcompact automobiles to medium-duty commercial trucks. Due to the prominence and name recognition of Chevrolet as one of General Motors' global marques, "Chevrolet" or its affectionate nickname 'Chevy' or is used at times as a synonym for General Motors or its products, one example being the GM LS1 engine, commonly known by the name or a variant thereof of its progenitor, the Chevrolet small-block engine.
