Hot! Bugatti Teases Mysterious New Model With X-Shaped Taillights

Latest news, trending discussions, reviews, and major updates
Can anyone explain why these claims are from simulations, when they have a working prototype? Why not just use the prototype and test the performance/weight/power?

This car and it's performance smells like Hot Wheels. Claims a lot of bs, never proves anything (not talking about the Chiron models, but rather turds like Centenariodieci, Divo and that other black one-off).

But hey, it's Bugatti, so they get a pass!

I'm guessing its their last hurrah for ICE cars considering they would be moving into hybrid/fully electric powertrains, and its about time they actually let the W16 fly.

I think they just did a proof of concept and are still thinking how to go about it. Although its a track only car I think they will mass produce it. We may ultimately see some street kit/factory builds maybe? Also a LT seems to be on the table.

I'm really hoping for a Le Mans entry, maybe not with the same powertrain, even though that seems quite unlikey.

Power to weight ratio and also torque to weight ratio too, if I am not mistaken.

Monster.

Edit: Although not road legal, the fact that this being track focused car that can also reach 500kmph is really something. They may create a LT version down the road, methinks.
It's weight to power ratio not power to weight.

Well these claims of a prototype car is not much worth. It is easy to make claims of a fantasy car, if it gets into production It will be another history.

Why would they? They have nothing to gain but lose money and probably face by losing.

Also VAG has been reducing/freezing it's fossil fuel motorsports factory efforts.

The numbers are insane...

Gees this thing is incredibly fast. Nothing on 4 wheels will be faster IMO. Power to mass ratio is 1096kw per ton. It’s as fast to 300kmh as a 720S gets to 200kmh and as fast to 500kmh as a 720S gets to 300kmh!!! Holy shit a roonies!!!

This is just looks cool. However, all this chatter about being a Le Mans racer... I just don't see the W16 being very conducive for endurance racing. I imagine it'd be coming in the pit more often than its competitors to get fuel, etc.

There is little point in running an 1800hp heavy W16. The LMPH regs prescribe a maximum power curve, which this engine would dramatically exceed. At the same time they're a way off the minimum weight with this car... There's literally no point in lugging around hundreds of kilograms of dead weight in a seriously de-tuned engine.

So then this maybe means that if they decide to put this thing into production it will be a road car...?

Thanks Matski. I wanted to mention tire performance/longevity when under constant heavy load from both the weight of the car and the downforce it'd encounter especially when using what would likely be soft slicks, but I think I'd be talking from my backside. Much better to get a more informed take and not to mention I had not even thought about restrictions that would be placed.

Faster than an F1 car 0-300kph by 3s, even with part of the run downhill.
